If you all enjoy movies, and I know you all do, how about making a little MINI meet at the movies? To make it even more fun and exciting, we could do a Drive-In movie. There's one in Bel Air, MD (near Baltimore) that's about 50 years old and the largest movie theatre screen on the east coast.

It's like $8 to get in and $12 or something if you bring outside food. You park, lift up the hatch, sit back and relax. If you go on Friday and Saturday nights, they show 3 movies and during intermission, they show episodes from the Three Stooges. It's cheap, a lot of fun and it would be great to see half the place filled with MINI's :D

On Labor Day weekend, 2 of my friends and I went and they showed about 6 or 7 movies - all for $8 a person! There's a snack bar with funnel cakes, nachos, popcorn, hot dogs, snow cones and even 1950's memorabilia! And ladies - they even have Female Urinals (don't ask, it's hard to essplain. You have to see it for your self!)

Souinds like fun. Why don't you organize it? Pick a date, meeting time/place, etc. Better hurry, tho'...we're running out of drive-in movie weather....

 

Me? Organize it? Wow...wouldn't even know how to begin organizing something like this. Since Paul! seems to be the leader in all this, I'll PM him sometime today or this week to get an idea on how to plan it so it could be do-able before the weather takes a turn.

 

We sure have... and we had a great time (see - DCMM Dinner and a Drive-In movie - May 28)! I think the idea would be very well received, especially if combined with a drive, like before. The fact it is in Maryland would also be good to help achieve balance for those Marylanders who hate driving deep into Virginia. :smile:

 

Although Paul is the "official" events co-ordinator, I want to encourage members to feel free to organize events as well. Go for it!

 

Excellent Idea. Didn't know Maryland still had a drive-in. They closed the one here in Odenton about 20 years ago

Thanks for the PM, a little busy today at work, but I'll send you a PM back. Actually, I printed out the PM so I wouldn't forget Anyhoo, it'll be exciting to set up my very first meet and have it turn out great.

I am currently TDY at Fort Gordon, GA, but will be home for the Columbus Day Weekend (Fri thru Sun) have to return on Monday. My wife and I would love to attend a "Mini" drive-in movie fest. "If you plan it, we will come!!!"
