DCMM Dinner and a Drive-In movie - May 28

Dinner and a drive to the Drive-In Saturday May 28!

We will start out at the Apple House just outside Front Royal, VA right off of I-66 at 6PM for an informal dinner. They have good all-day breakfasts, and a fantastic BBQ platter. Plus, apple-cider donuts! Mmmm... After dinner, we will have a short but fun drive over to the Family Drive-In located between Front Royal and Winchester, where we will watch the latest and greatest in cinema from the comfort of our MINIs.

When: Saturday, May 25th, 2005, dinner at 6PM, then gathering at the theatre at 8PM.
Where: Starting at The Apple House, then traveling to the Family Drive-In Theatre in Stephens City, VA, just off of Rt 11 South.
Why: What better way to see a movie than in a MINI?
How: Well, in a MINI, I hope! To get to The Apple House, make your way to I-66 on the western side of DC. Travel west on I-66, and exit when you reach Exit 13. Make a left off of the exit ramp, then a right at the stoplight. The Apple House is on the right immediately after the Mobil station. There's parking on the left side of the Apple House, with a big parking lot in the back.

I will have route sheets at the Apple House, and I have have posted a copy here in Microsoft Word format.

Dinner will cost you about $7-10 a person, and the movie is $7 for adults and $3 for children. (Although I'm going to try and get this cheaper!) Also, there will be a $5 per car fee for non-DCMM members. You can click here to pay securely via PayPal, or you can bring the $5 with you to the event. There is no fee for DCMM members.

We also have our choice of movies.

Screen 1
Kicking and Screaming
and
Coach Carter

(Didn't I mention that it was a double feature? )

OR

Screen 2
Monster-In-Law
and
Hitch

(Personally, I recommend Screen 1 as the thought of watching Jennifer Lopez 'act' frightens me! )

If you would like to participate, please RSVP soon!
RSVP to events@dcmetrominis.org with name, number of people, and number of cars.

I hope to see a bunch of you there!

I think we'll come. We haven't been to a drive-in movie for...gee, I can't remember the last one. It's been a long time. I'll check with Deb and confirm by e-mail.

Front Royal?! Yikes..that's so far away.....

I'm not sure where the drive-in around here is...I guess I'll go find it and see if I can work out directions at least...

EDIT...no drive in around here...closest one is in Delaware, which is a bit far. Where did you hear there was a drive-in in this area? Do you have a name? If it's "Diamond State Drive-In", that's the one in DEL.

If I don't wind up having to go to something cultural for Michael's class --- we will be there.

However, I need assurance that Paul will be wearing REAL clothing and not his MINI PJs.

Hugs,
PB

How far is too far to drive in a Mini?

How far is too far to drive in a Mini? I thought the Mini was a preferred mobile environment.

true, but Front Royal is almost 3 hours from my house (north of Annapolis,MD). At that point, I might as well turn south and go back to the Dragon....

Here's the link to the Family Drive-In (http://user.shentel.net/ccrkcr/drivein.html) in Stephens City, VA. Notice that the playbill will change tomorrow (13th). Here's the Mapquest link to Stephens City, VA (http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...te=va&zipcode=).

I'd really like to make it to this... but I'm not sure yet. I have my sister coming into town this Saturday for several weeks, and then my parents will also be visiting too not long after that. I'm not sure how much spare time I'll have without them around.

Funny you should say that. I was thinking of starting a thread to consider a weekend run down there mid-summer. What do you think?

Now that sounds like a plan. Could be like MOTD 2005 1/2 . By then I should have my new 05 MCSA and would love to test out its suspension and my driving skills.

Bengies?
They're listed in the Baltimore Sun "Today" section of the newspaper.
Website for Bengies
it's not really *near* Annapolis, but it's in the same state.

I agree with you! We have some good things over here but they just don't know it! Shhh... Keep the secrets of Manassas within you!

Mark, Where abouts in Manassas do you live? I live off the Prince William Parkway and then off of Yates Ford Road.

Ah, that must be the one, thanks for the heads up....that'd be about 40 mins. from my house, is my guess. I could try to put together a route if we decide to go there at some point...

PJ's????

G'day all,

Well one thing for sure is I will not be wearing my PJ's. I usually sleep in just boxers... OK I am not kinky but that is all I like to sleep in... I will try to come (this will be probably my first outing with you guys) So I don't want to make a bad first impression and only come wearing my boxers... I will wear something more suitable..

MINI you later mate

Well, doesn't that all depend on how you look in just your boxers (please forgive me in advance)

Yes, you are most welcome to join us fully clothed --- I think if we take a vote, most of DCMM actually perfers to attend events in clothes over the their PJs.

Looking forward to meeting you --- I think I just cleared our schedule and WILL be attending. But I think the BOY will be attending in HIS PJs --- but heck, he's 21 months old -- I think his footie PJs are allowed.

Hugs,
PB

Hey Paul

Was that you I saw at Melting Pot Sunday in Reston? If it wasn't you have a twin running around. If it was, sorry for not saying hi, but I didn't realize who I thought I was looking at until later.

Cheers,

Mark

I was thinking of just moving to Fontana, but it would sure be long commute back here every day.
Would the PJ wearer keep me informed with the results of the Chief's Board?
