It was all fun eve...

Whole thing was fun. No downer or big deal. I only mentioned it because jdandeneau asked point blank. These things happen more often than not with large groups, and I know it was just a accident.

Don't think anyone needs to worry about it big time. But someone did ask so figured I'd respond with the truth and we'll all double check ourselves more carefully down the road while we still have the menu in hand... Coulda been two big mistakes or a number of small.

No. With all of the money you chipped in over the years, you could probably have treated yourself and the husband to at least a couple of good steak dinners!

Anyhoo, that was a great turnout, and a great time! Thanks to everyone who showed up!

PS - Really, the check wasn't that big of a deal. It all worked out in the end, and I don't think that anyone purposefully 'stiffed' the check. (Well, except maybe Haemish. ) Actually, in all seriousness, I completely forgot about the 10% off coupon! Oops....

Hmm...

Assuming 5% for tax and 18% tip...

$16 x 1.05 = $16.80
$16.80 x 1.18 = $19.83 rounded up.

HAH! (yeah, I knew you were joking, but I had to cross-check my "quick tip math" anyway... not to mention that tip is supposed to be calculated BEFORE tax, but of course few people do it that way)

Hmmm - wasn't the check something like $478? Would have made almost $50 difference on the check then.

Suggestion - next time use the coupon, don't tell anyone, and either it will even out just fine, or you'll end up with extra cash that you can reimburse to the people who overpaid this time.

Sorry, my engineering brain is working overtime here - just call me "problem solver".

Wow, sorry about that. Didn't factor in the large group gratuity, I'll make sure to kick in some extra next time I make a meeting.

I did have a good time, it was great meeting everyone. Looking forward to a tech-session, or getting out to a track day so I can learn something.
