Does my sunroof need lube?

Whenever I open/close it now, just started yesterday, it squeeks so loudly! I don't know what's wrong with it.

Can anyone offer any advice? It's an '02 MCS.

Yep, take it to the dealer. My service order said, "Sunroof squeaks when opening. Clean and lube dirty, dry tracks per SIM 54-01-04." Hope this helps.

Wouldn't ya know - we just had our liftgate adjusted and the latch replaced to clear a persistent rattle - the car was great. . .for a week. . .then the sunroof started rattling. Only when it's open. . .which it should be, since it's springtime in the Rockies. . .

Character, I say.

WD 40 is what I just used awhile back for the squeaking. Works fine now. But be careful where you spray cause if you miss the track you got WD 40 inside the car! Anyone think this is bad? I mean it worked. Should I not use WD 40? OOPS I'm hi-jacking your thread! Sorry Please forgive me!

WD 40 nis not a lubricant. It is a penetrating oil. It's good for cleaning out goop, but you need to follow up with something slippery. I am partial to SuperLube, which is teflon based. I've been using it on boats in salt water for years. It has staying power and doesn't tend to gum up. It comes in a spray can or gel tube. Watch out, thoughn - it stains fabric. Last I checked, Radio Shack sells it, bu you can also try a marine supplier.
