auto-x in frederick

While passing through Frederick, MD area on Saturday, I noticed a couple of Minis at an auto-x event at the Keys stadium. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to stop. Is this an event with a regular schedule? I have checked SCCA , but haven't been able to find it. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

As Katie said, it was an autocross school. Saturday was the level 1, on Sunday they ran the Level 2. The all-black MINI is a stripped 2005 Cooper S equipped with the LSD option. That S is driven by Brian Garfield and is sponsored by MINI of Towson. Most likely the other MINI was also a Cooper S and is owned by Brian's father, Craig. Craig's S is either a 2002 or 2003 CR/W with a black & white checkerboard stipe. This S has had a couple of modifications and is an blast to drive on an autocross course.

Next Sunday, June 12th, is the monthly SCCA autocross event held in parking lots E & F at Fed Ex Field in Landover, MD. There are 15 different MINI's scheduled to run, with most of them running in the morning session. First car leaves the starting lineat about 9am. Here is the complete list of who is running and in what heat/run group and type of car they are driving.

A number of the MINI drivers are also members of DCMM. The SCCA autocross event is open to the public and is FREE. If you are planning on coming out be sure to check the weather forecast and come prepared. Here are some tips for spectators.

Come on out and see what the can do.

So.... why is your car color listed as "Bavarian Racing Green" ?

oh yeah, and where was that weather stripping supposed to go to keep all the crub out of the engine compartment? you mentioned something at the Tate breakfast in April (I think).

If you were to compare the MINI BRG to the BMC BRG you would find the two colours are different. There is a running battle about which green is better for autocrossing. (The lighter green is the colour of go. )

FedEx auto-X

Is this event a monthly thing? I have tried to find a schedule on the scca site, but can't find anything. That doesn't mean it is not there, just that I can not find the schedule.

Ken

No shortcuts, no interstates.

Thanks for the lead to the schedule. I'm only a spectator, for now. Can't make June's run,but will put July's on the schedule.

I would say very slim, but you are most welcome to come out anyway. The best way that I know of is to set up your registration form ahead of time and then when registration opens, attempt to be one of the first to sign up. You might also consider joining the local SCCA yahoo group That is the best place to get all of the correct information about the SCCA sponsored autocross in the DC area. Great bunch of people, most of the MINI drivers/owners are also members of DCMM.
