Drive IN

Yeh, there is a drive-in, I think it was near Manassas. DCMM went there a couple months ago. It was cool.

I guess I should change my signature slightly, the 06 hasn't arrived yet.

Actually it was a littl bit further west than that... We were out by I-81 just south of Winchester...

But yes there are a few drive in's still left. There was talk of heading to one in MD this year as well, but I don't think that will happen this late in the year.

Hey everyone, just joined today and I live in the Hampton area in Southeast VA! Anyone in the local area let me know I feel alone in the MINI world down here!

Cheers

Holy poop!! That's a drive!! Welcome to the club! I don't know about other DCMMers down there, but there are a plethora of other MINI owners active down that way on this board and MINI2.com! (In fact, I think Hampton Roads has a club down there, can anyone clarify?) Also, be sure to check out River City MINIs in/around Richmond!

Hope to see you around!

-Paul!

Hampton Roads does have an informal club down that way. They mostly plan and post on MINI2.com in the Mid Atlantic Forum. Look for posts by AprilWhine and Obehave. They club is loosely organized, but they do get together from time to time.

Hope to see you up our way soon!

Yet Another Matt

Hello Everyone!

Just picked up my new MINI today after waaaaaay too much time looking and a few last weeks tracking the car from the UK. Given that I bought the car at Towson after Mr. Babischkin's phone call to their sales mgr to clarify an.. ahem.. misunderstanding of their policies concerning mandatory dealer add-ons, I thought it only fitting to join DCMM as soon as I got home (yes, the check is in the mail). Brad and Mike at Towson were a pleasure to work with, for any of you still deciding where to buy. Every remaining new car on their lot does have the $1200 of dealer-installed options that DCMM helped me avoid (and one even had a $2990 add'l markup line item on the sticker), so it may still be worth looking around.

I'm looking forward to joining in on these socials, getting to know a lot of you and getting to know my MINI better. In the meantime, I'll try to pay attention and wave when I see other MINIs now. I shouldn't be too hard to spot, as I've only once seen an electric blue / white MCS on my commute from Annandale to Rockville over the past couple of years, and there aren't likely to be a growing number of them.

Jen, When we pay for another year (as I just did) do we get a new name card? I ask because the last time I looked at mine it had an expiration date on it.

Just got my Membership card

Hey DCMM,

I just got my membership cards for me and my fiance and figured I tell a little about myself. I am 19 and I just bought a condo in Odenton about 4 months ago and I am getting married this May. I have had my mini just over 2 years now and never really thought about a club, but now that I am in a new area I decided to find some freinds that had the same interest as me, MINIS, and this seems to be the way to go. I hope to have a lot of fun with all of you guys.

Clifton

Not a knock at all - it's impressive that someone at 19 can buy a car outright! You'll have a gas with our group. Better start saving more money for mods - some of our members (ahem Edge) have some pretty quick and even better than stock handling cars!

Check is in the mail

Hi. I just joined DCMM tonight since it is raining out and I won't be heading out until later. I picked up my '06 orange mini convertible about a week ago and I like it. It is like being a celebrity w/ all the paparazzi, questions and flashbulbs from the red light cameras. Kinda cool.

I hope to get to know you over the next 60 months of ownership. In the meantime, I'm going to brush up on what all these abreviations and acronyms mean.

New Members and some information

Lots of new folks to say howdy to:

David B
Al C
Matt C
Laurie R
Bill and Lisa
Chris M
Steve W
Paul and Jacqueline
Clifton and Anna
Wanda W
Tina and Michael
Tim and Julie
Bill S
Greg and Julianne

I think that's everyone

A bunch of new member packets are going out this week. This should be everyone signed up this summer and up until October first.

I will be leaving mid-October for an out of country work assignment for a couple months. Marina and James will be picking up sending out new member stuff while I am gone. (Thanks guys!) However, for three weeks both I and Marina/James will be gone while they attend MINI United in Italy. During that time, please send in your membership applications, but we won't be processing them until their return from Italy. Hope you all understand, but it is too much work to pass to someone for just a few weeks and then pass on again to someone else, we would be bound to start making mistakes and missing people -- and we don't want that to happen!!

I should still have internet access from time to time, so I'll try to keep up with postings.
