Well that was nice of that officer to help you to ensure you were traveling at a safe speed

Actually we had a good chat at the red light... He'd been admiring my purple wheels and said he thought the person driving "must be enjoying it".

Not sure what he meant, but I was enjoying it!

British Racing Green/White in Clinton, MD?

Although it's been awhile since the last time I saw you... now and again I've spotted you parked at the cute house on the corner of Brandywine and Clinton Manor... are you a mini owner AND Clinton resident?? If so, that makes two of us

P.S. Want to thank everyone on the road for the waves and beeps!

There is a CR/Silver Cooper (I think) at Collision Craft in Baltimore. I cant say for sure if it was a Cooper or 'S' or not because I didn't walk around it to check the exhaust (didn't check the side marker colors either), and it had no FRONT END! Hope you feel better soon!

Gold/black with bonnet stripes driving north on 23rd Street near GWU this afternoon around 1:00 p.m. Looks great, first time seeing a gold MC in person.

Sallykat has a really neato front plate holder that utilizes the front tow hook bolt location. Means you're legal *and* no drilling into the MINI!

I don't remember the name of it or where she got it, but you can PM her and/or me and we'll pass over the details if interested!

Depends on the officer. Some give warnings, some write tickets, and some do a bit of both. Of course, a whole lot depends on the attitude of the driver when they are stopped!! With (mandatory) court costs it's probably going to be about $100 (or more) if you are cited. My view has always been that not only is it the law, but most of us comply with it with no problem and therefore those that think they're a bit special and don't shouldn't be complaining if they get stopped. Don't damn the officer for a personal decision . (BTW, a front plate does have a very legitimate purpose from an officer's perspective, but all of this is a bit off topic for this thread.)

........or just register your vehicles in a different state and not have to worry about it. Don't forget to have a DL for that state as well.

Actually, I remember back is High School, I had a car that had a flip down rear plate that stayed down. I was driving and got stopped for not having a rear plate and a front plate and I flipped the rear plate up and the officer got kinda pissy about it and I just blew it off and saw him in court and got off.

Moral of the story.... I get away with so much crap just by being nice and courtious and cautious.

COol Paul thanks for the tip. I think I have seen the license plate holder. For now I may just take my chances, but Im sure when I get my first ticket I'll probably reconsider your suggestion

Instead of taking my normal eve-shift lunch break, I decided to head out to Microcenter in Fairfax to pick up a component I wanted. I hopped on 66 and was delighted to soon be motoring alongside of an electric blue MCS with a tag of "B3A5T"... Aftermarket exhaust with nice big tips... I think he had a SCCA website logo on his boot, but the text was so small I couldn't read it, as it was a long website name.

Then a MCSC pulled on the freeway behind me... Hot Orange, with a black top. Tag said "Moocher". All these cool tags, and I just have a plain jane MD tag. :(

Anyhow, we motored along for a while in a 3 mini train, and life was swell.

And why exactly didn't you ever get a "BATMINI" tag?

Because I'll get it in Guam?

Actually, because when I picked up the car, Betty was out of town... And she somehow weasled her way onto the title... So when I went to submit the app, they said they couldn't take it without her present to sign as well.

I never went back to resubmit.

Bummer - you could have kept your plates as souvenirs! I still have my DC and MD "EDGE" plates that used to be on my Mustang before I moved to VA.

Officially you're supposed to return them, but they never sent me a letter asking for them back. I figure it doesn't matter now anyway since the registration stickers are long expired...

Who was the lucky person to get their photo on page 3 of the Metro "Section of today's Post. I don't know whether they were trying to compare the size of the pothole to the MINI or just lucked out and got a photo of a great car. Let's keep it safe out there and lookout for holes that are bigger than your MINI.

Well I saw Dave and his Petrol tags braving the still icy in spots stuff on Davis Ford yesterday about 11:30. Probably didn't notice a wave since I was sitting in my other vehicle -- an F150 4X4 pickup. Had too much ice where I live to get my mini out since the storm (FINALLY just had to manage that today -- course now it needs a good wash!) As for me, I live just a little further down Davis Ford (about a mile or so from Yates Ford)

MINI Spotting....

Hey I was driving up 97N last night (the 2nd) and I saw a Silver MCS. She turned off onto 100. Trying to find out if anyone knows who she was.
