Towson and dealer stickers
Towson and dealer stickers
I saw a thread in another section discussing dealer decals/stickers. I forgot to request that Towson not put any such thing on my car and I was just curious if they even do that? Anybody order from MINI of Towson?
thanks

I believe that putting dealer stickers/decals/badges on the car without the purchaser's consent is illegal in Maryland. From MD Transportation Article, Section 15-313:
So I wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy your Mini.
Hopefully you have better luck with Mini of Towson than I had with Mini of Annapolis (but that's a story for another day).
d) Placing insignias, logos, etc., on vehicles.
(1) A dealer or an agent or employee of a dealer may not place on a vehicle an insignia, logo, or other plate that advertises the name of the dealer, unless:
(i) The contract of sale for the vehicle contains a notice of the rights of the buyer described in this subsection; and
(ii) The buyer of the vehicle consents to the placement of the insignia, logo, or other plate on the vehicle.
(2) A dealer or an agent or employee of a dealer may enter into an agreement with a buyer of a vehicle to compensate the buyer in exchange for the buyer's consent to the placement on the vehicle of an insignia, logo, or other plate that advertises the name of the dealer.
(3) If a dealer or an agent or employee of a dealer places an insignia, logo, or other plate that advertises the name of the dealer without obtaining a buyer's consent, the dealer shall, at the request of the buyer, remove the advertising and make all repairs necessary to restore the vehicle to its original appearance at no charge to the buyer.

Not on topic, but here you go:
I had the bad luck of walking into the dealership when the only guy around was a motoring advisor (Mark) more interested in whining about the sale of the franchise to Group 1 than getting my order correct. To this day I'm driving around in a Clubman with a feature or 2 that I didn't want because he told me it was too late to fix his mistake, even though the car hadn't yet gone into production.
To add insult to injury, Mark never responded to my repeated emails inquiring about the status of my permanent license plate and DC parking permit, even after I pointed out that my temporary DC parking permit was going to expire soon (45 days from issuance, with no renewals).
I finally got hold of Jerry, the business manager, who told me that they were swamped and that there was no way to get my plate and permit before my non-renewable temporary parking permit expired. Not wanting to accumulate parking tickets and possibly have my brand new car booted or towed, I told him to stick my paperwork and a refund of the processing fees in an overnight envelope and I'd take care of it myself -- at a cost of a lost day's pay. He then blatantly lied to me and told me that he couldn't get a check cut in time and that I'd have to front the money myself. This would of course require that I give Mini of Annapolis an $1800 interest-free loan. No thanks.
When I complained to Chuck, the general manager, he told me that he could have a check cut in an hour (hence the determination that Jerry lied to me) but asked for the chance to make it right. And true to his word he FedEx'ed my new registration and plates to me this past weekend. The problem is that they forgot to get the residential parking permit, which was the whole point of the exercise. The explanation from Chuck was that his title clerk saw the note about the parking permit but didn't know what it meant. Instead of asking for clarification, however, she charged ahead and did the exact wrong thing. As my permit expires on Friday, I now have to take time off from work and go to the DMV myself to fix their mistake. This will cost me way more than I initially paid them to take care of the DMV stuff, so a refund of their fees means very little to me at this point.
EDIT/UPDATE: I did go to the DMV to fix the problem myself. However, I'm now dealing directly with a corporate manager at Group 1 who has been very sympathetic and seems to be trying hard to change the old Tate culture at MoA. We've reached an amicable agreement and I'm cautiously optimistic that things will get better over there. I'm still wary of their sales/business staff, but maybe their service department will be better.
