local MVA run sometime soon?

Anyone in MD planning a trip to their local MVA anytime soon? I'd love to be able to find out if my vanity plate ideas are available but dont have the time to go anytime soon.

Thanks!

Might as well just mail in the form with your 4 favorite ideas, because even if they are available you will have to submit the form. Thats what I'm doing.

Yeah, thought about that but i want to know ahead of time what i'm getting instead of just waiting to be "surprised" at what shows up on my doorstep.

Aww, bummer! I really hate to go wait in that long forever. My last visit wasn't very pretty - took two different occasions of waiting like 2 hours EACH just to get my driving license and info on switching my tags (which i never went back to finalize). I have MD's MVA!

The Maryland DMV sucks. Did the deed last Wednesday. Spent an hour waiting in line. My first choice was HotChoc, but that was taken. I could not believe that my second choice, CLUBMAN, was still available! Now all I have to do is wait up to eight weeks before they arrive.

Have fun!

I, too, was just there 2 weeks ago..I had lost my registration sticker. I was in and out in 15 mins. By far, the shortest time I've ever had at MVA. I went early, and was 2nd in line.
It pays to get up early, sometimes..

It seems like our neighbors in VA have the best system - request on line and a week later you have your plate. No need to go to the DMV at all.

Dave and I waited 2 months for our plate to arrive at the DC DMV and then sat there for 3 hours to pick it up. The total time it took for the clerk to process the transaction? 3 minutes.

Yeah, virginia is awesome like that (being a virginian all my life until last May). It's so easy to check to see what's available on the website and being able to request them online... Another strike for Maryland. I should be counting!

So nobody's going anytime soon??

Eh, it's alright i suppose - but i've lived in VA all my life until about 10 months ago. I'm kind of biased.

Aww!! best afternoon EVER!! i came home to find my membership packet, AND my plates! it only took the MD prisoners just over 2 weeks to stamp them out! (of course, they were supposed to be the plain white tags, but i guess me getting everything i want is too much to ask )

Wow, awesome!

Since you may know the answer to this, i'm gonna ask you =) The regular MD plain tags have the little emblem thing in the middle (if you get 3 characters on each side as default). I dont like it. If i personalize my plates but just get the plain ones, that emblem thing wont be there, correct?

yeah- our state emblem....
nope. its usually only in there if you have the generic ones they assign you

when you get vanity ones they usually disappear (dont hold me to that )

I actually saw a plate on my home from the mall tonight that didn't have the emblem. But it didn't look like it was personalized either. It was like M297597 or something. *shrug* i dunno. See, another reason why MD should let you SEE the plates and check availablility online like VA does!

Yeah, usually "M" plates are for trucks/SUV's/Minivans....although i have seen some on regular coupes and sedans before (but usually its because they transfered tags) but there are always exceptions
