I got pulled over!
I got pulled over!
For the MODS: I did nothing illegal, so this thread doesn't violate NAM Rules.
Let me start with the fact I've never been pulled over. (Until now...)
So I'm driving down the road waiting to go through a traffic light. There is a cop in the turn lane beside me. Well his light changes and he doesn't move. My light changes and I go. Well shortly down the road he turns on his emergency lights and siren. I pull over on a side road. Well he doesn't pull behind me like a normal traffic stop. He stops in the middle of the road and ANOTHER cop pulls behind me. I already had my windows down and I hear "DRIVER STEP OUT OF THE VEHICLE WITH YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR." As I slowly step out I notice that both the Officers have me at Gun-Point!
He directs me to walk towards them and get on my knees facing away from them. I do so... They then proceed to hand cuff me. As they do so I ask "Sir my I ask what I'm being stopped for?" He replies "We'll explain that all here in a minute." The whole time being at Gun-Point...
He asks for my license and I tell him its in my back pocket and he proceeds to remove my wallet. He goes his car while the other Officer holds the cuffs. So I don't run!
HAHA While I'm waiting a third Officer shows up. And I'm on decently busy road! The original Officer returns shortly and says "The reason we pulled you over was due to the fact the car is reported stolen." As soon as he said that I knew what happened. Well some of you might remember when my Wind-Up Key was stolen off my MINI. Well the license plate was taken with it... So the plate was reported stolen.
I explain this to them and they ask if I have my registration. I say Yes Sir and he says "Ok well lets get the cuffs off and then you can grab that for me." We proceed to do so. I hand him the registration and he says "You may have a seat in your car." He returns shortly and asks "Do you understand why I pulled you over the way I did?" Of course I did, I'm going into Law Enforcement and my father was former Law Enforcement. So my car has a decent number of identifying stickers for Law Enforcement. He also stated when he punched in my plate all these bells and whistles went off on his computer.
Well in the end they let me go free!
But with quite an experience. This was my FIRST time being pulled-over. And to top it off it was at Gun-Point!
Needless to say I kinda got the **** scared out me.
I completely agree with the way the Officers acted I just figured it was one hell of a story to share!
SO the car was reported stolen still. And what gets me more is the fact it was reported stolen tags was on my OLD MINI. First DMV should of never re-issued me those tags. Second DMV should of never let me switch the plates to my NEW MINI! Now I need to head to the Police Department to get the "stolen" removed from my tags.
EDIT: I forgot to mention I have custom plates. "MNEEME" which were once stolen.
EDIT 2: Go here discussing my second issue now... I am being required to get new plates - https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=127394

They acted as training has told them too. They didn't know I was the rightful owner of the vehicle nor did they know what I was going to do.

Glad you see it as a fun story.
In IL we separate stolen plates from stolen vehicles, one is a "felony stop" like you had, the other is a little less formal. Many reasons for which I'm sure you'll learn but I wont go about publicly stating. So did you replace the plates or have it re-plated with a different #?
Also be glad to know your local day shift is taking the time to run plates at random and be proactive.

This past summer I didn't immediately pull over for an ambulance (with flashing lights on) that was on my tail. I later realized it was actually a police wagon (it was night time); by that time it was already too late. I ended up going to jail for "fleeing from the police", got my car towed, and spent over $1500 dollars just to prove that I was innocent and that it was all a miscommunication error. I now have no respect for most police officers. I am even debating about seeing a psychiatrist because I have deeply disturbing dreams & thoughts wishing for bad things to happen to the local police.

Indeed I'm pleased to see that. I completely agree with what they did.

+1 on that one. I wonder why the police officers even chose to run your tags at the traffic light; were you driving suspiciously?

Nope, I was going the speed limit. Nothing wrong at all. Maintaining lane and speed. Who knows.
That quite a story. Don't know what to say bout the dreams though, sorry.
No but I re-ordered one. Mine was the first reported stolen one he heard of. Which is originally why I thought he was pulling me over.

Meaning if it had been an ambulance, you thought you didn't have to pull over?? Gee, I hope the next time an ambulance is delayed because some J#%#@$$ feels they don't have too pull over, it isn't one of your loved ones inside
You will be good! They ain't after all the MINIs, just the ones with plates reported "stolen"
Still wonder why he ran my plates to begin with.
An ambulance was on my tail on a narrow 1 way street and turned its lights on. I happened to be driving next to a gas station and pulled off in its parking lot to get out of the ambulance's way as quickly as possible. To my surprise, the ambulance followed me in the parking lot and stopped. I figured they were picking up some injured person at the gas station. I didn't really think twice about it, so I drove out the other exit. I was arrested about 10 minutes later at a red light several blocks away. The police officers pulled me out of my window and had me gunned down. I thought they had mistaken me for someone else. It's a long story from there, but the police officers saw my heavily modified car, saw my 4 point race harnesses, and saw my "young age" and came to their conclusion based upon that evidence. Anyway, I explained what happened to the judge and it was all completely dismissed in court.

I got pulled over too ...
I was out jogging during the summer years back when a black and white drove up on the sidewalk behind me and blasted his siren. I stopped and turned around to see an officer get out with his hand on the gun in his holster. Before I could ask what was going on an unmarked car pulled up and 2 plainclothes detectives jumped out. They questioned me and then told me that I matched the description of someone who had just raped a woman at a nearby park. They made me stand on the curb facing the street so another car could drive by with the victim to see if she could identify me. The car drove by and then radioed back to the detectives, who told me to enjoy the rest of my run. As I was close to finishing my run I passed another black and white parked on the street. After passing him I heard him start the engine and I looked back to see him making a U-turn and driving toward me. I just stopped and waited for him to pull up next to me. Before he could get out of the car I told him I'd already been stopped for suspicion of rape. He let me go after radioing in to check on my story.

A similar thing happened to my son. His car was stolen from a repair garage because they leave the keys in them on the lot. When it was recovered, he and my wife were called to the local police dept to sign papers. They then drove about an hour to the state police barracks where the car was recovered to to pick it up. They brought the car directly to the repair garage to have the locks changed since the car was recovered w/o the keys, but they had our address from the insurance card in the glove compartment. All they needed to do was show up one night when the car was in our driveway and drive off with the keys; so I insisted that the locks on the doors and trunk be changed.
After dropping my son off to p/u his car and then I headed home; about 1 mile away. About 20 minutes later, he came home and asked me if I was worried that it took him so long to get home. I figured he stopped somewhere on the way.
Actually, after he pulled out of the repair shop, a police car started following him. The cop turned his lights on and my son, thinking he was on a call pulled over to let him pass. He didn't pas, but my son, not thinking anything was wrong, kept on driving slowly. Next thing he knows, the cop was on his PA telling my son to pull over and place both his hands out the window. By now 2 other cars had arrived and same as the OP, he was forced, spread eagle on the hood while three cops stood over him with guns drawn. Similar thing, the local police hadn't taken the car off the hot sheets and the cops thought he was avoiding them by not stopping them. He produced his registration and them let him go, but for a 19 year old kid, it was a harrowing experience.
