Drive Around and find some pretty lights Run 2007

G'day again....

I was hearing a rumor that someone or some people were thinking of a last minute go look at the christmas lights run this year... Well today is the 17th and we have not much time to organize this, but I would love to come out with all our MINI friends and go check out the pretty lights....

So I have no idea where to go or have no idea where we went last year (as I was not there).

So Anyone interested in doing this ??? if so anyone have last years route ??? is anyone out there able to check the route out to see if the silly people put their lights out again last year ?????

Questions questions questions... hope there are answers here in the thread soon......

If you don't mind driving to Baltimore, and dealing with traffic...this is pretty famous and spectacular. We've been twice, and I've never seen anything like it.http://www.christmasstreet.com/

Last year Jay and Stace arranged one near Germantown. I recalled it started with dinner and the lights run at Seneca Creek State Park.

If you live near Sterling Va, check out the E Juniper Ave. community. The whole street decorate their houses beautifully.

Location

I haven't checked that out this year, may be this weekend I will.

Also, please find the link to Christmas lights displays in Fairfax, NoVa.

Wensleydale is heading to MOT today for service but I'll not be MINI free with my loaner - hope she's only there till tomorrow evening.

G'day

Like I said in my first post.... I would love to join in a run... I don't want to plan the bloody thing all by myself... I have no idea where would be good to go and knowing me and my southern hemesphere thinking, I would end up lost and on the wrong side of the flipping road... now that may be difficult to tell the cops that we were all just following me.... I am sure we would have a MINI lockdown at the local police station...

Seriously if some one has a good place to go we could meet up for dinner and the drive... I am free any night till Christmas eve (24th)..

If anyone is looking for lights near Alexandria...

If anyone is looking for lights near Alexandria don't forget to stop by Washington Sailing Marina (just north of Oldtown Alexandria on the GW Parkway) to see my boat...

Are the lights on your boat on every evening?

I might stop by either tonight or tomorrow if it is, before I had out to Houston for the holidays.

Yes, they run from around 4:30 till midnight. I may readjust things so it runs pre dawn too, but right now it's just at night. If anyones coming by, especially with kids I can try to meet you and let you out on the dock. Otherwise you have to watch from about a hundred feet away on shore. You can see them OK from the parking lot too though.

I'll stop on the way home from work to make sure everythings working A OK. The boat's 10 minutes from work and directly on the way home. It's run by MS Windows, so you can't take these things for granted!

Windows... Hmmmm need to set it up to reboot itself every hour... maybe you should invest in a nice shiny IBM mainframe (z900)... at least it would not require you going to check up on it.... you never need to restart one of those... Hey what the heck Mark you may as well go Full GDPS (Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex....)

Actually it DOES power down and up every day. I've got a script set to shut the PC off at midnight, then a timer on the power stip shuts off all the power at 1 am. When the power comes on at 4:30 the PC auto boots and fresh loads everything.

When I used to just let it run it'd crash after a few days.

I took sailing lessons @ Belle Haven too this past summer, had a great time, went sailing a few more times there....managed to stay out late enough once that we had to be towed back in

Can't wait to go sailing again!

Yea. One of the great things aobut lessons there is/was that you got Flying Scott rentals for 1/2 price weekdays before 5 'forever'. Don't know if that's still the policy but I made use of it a lot in the year between my lessons and buying Toyot.
