Funktion Auto
I went by there to talk to them a few months back....stood around at the front desk for ten minutes, even went back to the shop looking for help. They have a very, very nice shop but I didn't ever get to talk to anybody. There's also FunctionTuned in Dulles but they are a Nissan shop (an old co-worker of mine runs it). I'll assume the one you are speaking about is the one next to Piper Motorsports and the Ferrari restorer on Mercure Cir.
Hey thanks for the offer! I totally would, but unless you can do it between 1pm and 3pm tomorrow then I'll prol just go ahead...I'm dying to get these danged wheels on my car already. And, I'm curious about Funktion Auto...as I'd like to find a reliable shop thats a bit closer to me than LDG....

Well as we had discussed in private...I may very well be bringing it by your place to swap out the lug nuts heheheh and thanks for the hospitality
But I did want to give Funktion Auto a try and I am glad that I did so I could report to you all...
Now, I know all I got was my Texas Speedwerks Conversion Studs put on as well as my new wheels....(see Wheel and Tire forum for pics) but I was very impressed with their facilities and service. I felt like I got white glove treatment while I was there...and Keith the mechanic (who used to work at Mini of Sterling and really seemed to love Minis) was very friendly, patient, and accommodating of my special installation requests and questions - enthusiastic with no resistance or attitude at all. Everything was performed with care and respect to me and my baby. Maybe its typical for mechanics to wear surgical gloves, but I had never seen that before and thought that was cool. They also took care to bag all of the removed wheels in trashbags before putting them back in the car.
The facility was spotless and laid out very well. The lounge upstairs was impressive with a huge flat screen HD television and direct TV, coffee bar, leather chairs/couch, and floor to ceiling windows that overlook the shop floor so you can watch the work progress.
I did not get a chance to meet the Owner as he was in Europe picking up a new Mercedes 550 for his wife
It is very likely I will be bringing my car back soon to get my rear sway bar installed...

Yeah please forward that info to me when you're done!I also have sort of the only OEM mentality. The things Ive changed on my car don't impact the warranty, can be easily removed and/or the original parts and be easily put back on the car...i.e. wheels, strut bar...
The only thing I wish mini offered was a JCW rear sway....dunno how to get around that one....
Being a bit more of a music enthusiast than the average person and if I had more $$$ I totally would have opted for the DPSM...
Would love to hear it when youre all done

Waliid (Sp?) is the owner. He's a good guy. Mainly he likes racing, and wanted to distribute some race cars. He rents the whole of Summit Point's big track once in a while and goes there with a bunch of friends to just drive the track fast. Crazy! His shop has hosted a BMW event or two and definitely has the equipment to do suspension tuning. I was thinking of having them install the MachV springs on my R56.
