Concert/Music Fanatics?
Concert/Music Fanatics?
Okay, so I started a movie thread. How about people who love going to concerts? I tend to like indie music, classical, and jazz. I'm getting a bit old for the indie music scene but still like to catch an occassional concert.
Anyone catch The Smashing Pumpkins suprise concert at the 9:30 Club on Sunday? I found out about it too late to get tickets.

I used to go to at least 7 concerts a summer, but somehow lost touch with that side of myself several years ago. I'm lucky if I attend 2 concerts a year these days.
I'm a metalhead/rock chick, so you'd better believe I'll be at the Family Values Tour this month!
If anyone else will be there, throw a wave Penny's way!

OK - time to resurrect this... I found a concert I REALLY want to go to... hoping some of you are into it too!
The Black Crowes... they'll be in Asburn, VA (out past Dulles Airport & near Sterling, VA... yes, near MoS) on Sunday, August 5, at the Loudon Summer Music Fest. The venue is Belmont Country Club.
General Admission tickets (i.e. lawn) are only $17 (before processing fees) and "Golden Circle" tickets (unassigned seats up close) are $35. Gates open at 5pm.
Who's interested? As far as I can tell, tickets are still available.
I haven't bought mine yet, I'm curious to see who else wants to go and what type of ticket they'd prefer. I could go either way, myself.
Also, for those of you in MD who would like to see them but think that Ashburn is too far, they're also playing in Baltimore on Tuesday, August 7 at 7:30pm. Those tickets are $45 each though (before "convenience fees")... blame Ticketmaster for that one! (the Ashburn tickets are NOT through Ticketmaster but the Baltimore ones are).
If you don't know who The Black Crowes are, you have no idea what you're missing. Just take a look at their Wikipedia page to get an idea.

My wife's aunt lives there...maybe it's time for a visit.

I'm not to big on concerts, mainly because alot of my favorite bands don't play in the area. But that hasn't stopped me from motoring to NY for one concert, and I'm motoring to Philly for another in August (same band, Modest Mouse.) If anyone wants to motor along, the more the merrier.
Family Values Tour
I have one extra ticket to the Family Values Tour this Saturday at Nissan Pavillion. Anyone interested in coming along to see Korn and Evanescense co-headline the show? No lawn tickets here
! I've got tix for the seated section!
Please PM me if you're interested. Thanks.

The concert was great! There were only 2 songs they didn't perform that I wish they had. One was Hard to Handle (of course... I heard a lot of people disappointed about that) and the other is probably my favorite - Sometimes Salvation. Really dissappointed about that one! The did do a one-song encore, which was She Talks To Angels. Of course the crowd went nuts for that one.
Some of the soulful extended solos that they did were so moving... it just reminded me of how much I love music and why I'm spending a ridiculous amount of money to convert my car to DPSM. It's just that important to me.
It rained a little bit, but not too bad. I did bring my nice Totes umbrella in along with my rainjacket, but I never used it... then I managed to fall down when I stepped into a drainage ditch hole on the way back to the car. Scraped my hand... and lost my umbrella. Spent 10 minutes looking for it, no go. It's colored black, so that made it all the more difficult to find.
Oh well - it's a $30 umbrella. I'll get over it. Better than losing my wallet, my keys or my cellphone!
Also, I saw a note at the will-call desk that INXS was just announced to come in early September! Anyone interested?
