I'm THERE I want to introduce you guys to the best theater in the entire DC region... but unfortunately right now they're still showing Pirates of the Caribbean... maybe they'll switch over to Transformers by the weekend...

Yeah those have got to be two of the best transformers i have ever seen..except for the toys of the mini cooper transformers..lol..man if only they were in the movie, they would be like the MINITRONS or something..lol..

 

Ok, I'll bite - what's the best theater in the entire DC region?

 

I'm gonna guess the Uptown. That theater is AWESOME!!! The acustics are good and the screen is HUGE.

 

DING! DING! DING! DING! We have a winner!

It is an inconvenient theater to go to, parking is terrible, on particularly busy nights for a big movie, the line to get in will stretch around the block... but the reason for that is that it's WORTH IT!

The Uptown is the King Kong of DC area movie theaters - located on Connecticut Avenue. It is a classic old theater ... it even has a balcony! ... that they have constantly kept up to date with the latest technology. The screen is so huge it is visibly curved, and they only have ONE screen, and they only show ONE movie in any given week or so.

Since I've already seen Pirates of the Caribbean (not bad, but too long... the first 2 were better), I'm hoping they switch over to Transformers or another really big blockbuster-type movie soon. They tend to show the big features there.

Many years ago, I saw Jurassic Park there, and I saw Independence Day there (ON Independence Day! heh), and over the years I've seen many
other big movies including many of the Star Wars movies.

I just checked AMC's website... it seems that PotC is staying at Uptown until next week, then it switches to the new Harry Potter movie. Damn. Oh well - I guess Transformers will have to be from a "regular" theater!

For big blockbusters, we generally go to MovieCo out in Arundel Mills, but I'm game for wherever you guys want to go...

I watched the premier "Dances with wolf" there.

 

Saw a sneak preview at the Cinema De Lux in Fairfax last night. Amazing movie.

 

I thought Gladiator was a great movie at Uptown because of the awesome coliseum flyover scenes.
