Transformers...
dag! Yo!
Transformers was more than meets the EYE!
mwah haha!
it was so much better than the previews lead on-
it did have a lot of jump cuts and some odd continuity issues (coming from the film maker)
but the script was excelent-
and just incase you all were wondering- the scorpion (Scorponok) guy isnt really trying to hurt anyone - he just wants hugs! : ) (its not a spoiler- its in the trailer)
Enjoy everyone!

I WANNA HUG

Mark and Wanda, if you want to crash here overnight, you're welcome to.

Jeremy, I'm not attending the drive-in thingy, so I wanna see the movie now...
There is a great Cinema Deluxe @ Fairfax Corners and there are lots of places within the 30 second walk from the theater. They have a bar in the theater too.
I believe the major road in front of the Fairfax Corner complex is Monument Drive. (I used to live a minute from there). Just a stones throw from Wegmans. Restaurants in the same complex are: Coastal Flats (personal fave). Rio Grande, PF Changs, Potbelly Sandwich, Ruth's Chris, Chipotle

Fairfax Corners... As in National Amusements Fairfax Corners? 11900 Palace Way Fairfax, VA 22030? Is that the one?
Katie, that is about an hour from us! So I imagine it will be farrr for you. Hum. I don't know if it will work with us coming from three far places.

The Uptown is cool, I can see where Transformers would be great there.
For me, Star Wars movies and James Bond movies were always to be seen at the Uptown. Sadly, for Casino Royale, the Uptown had been sold to AMC. So the regional managers chose not to open the latest Bond flick there. Many Uptown staff were saddened as Bond movies have opened at the Uptown since the beginning.
We should do a MINI movie night there!

DING! DING! DING! DING! We have a winner!
It is an inconvenient theater to go to, parking is terrible, on particularly busy nights for a big movie, the line to get in will stretch around the block... but the reason for that is that it's WORTH IT!
The Uptown is the King Kong of DC area movie theaters - located on Connecticut Avenue. It is a classic old theater ... it even has a balcony! ... that they have constantly kept up to date with the latest technology. The screen is so huge it is visibly curved, and they only have ONE screen, and they only show ONE movie in any given week or so.
Since I've already seen Pirates of the Caribbean (not bad, but too long... the first 2 were better), I'm hoping they switch over to Transformers or another really big blockbuster-type movie soon. They tend to show the big features there.
Many years ago, I saw Jurassic Park there, and I saw Independence Day there (ON Independence Day! heh), and over the years I've seen many
other big movies including many of the Star Wars movies.
Anyway, here's a good little synopis on the theater:
Cinema Treasures | Uptown Theater
I just checked AMC's website... it seems that PotC is staying at Uptown until next week, then it switches to the new Harry Potter movie. Damn. Oh well - I guess Transformers will have to be from a "regular" theater!

I wish the "decision makers" had better taste. Harry Potter over Transformers? Pft!

As for me, it turns out I AM going away for the weekend to Lake Gaston... just waiting to be picked up by my friend. If you guys do go see Transformers, I hope it's as awesome as I've heard from some of the folks that have seen it already. Only one die-hard purist Transformers fan friend of mine hated it. Everyone else I've talked to so far loved it.
I'll have to catch it next week, I guess.
no not yet...I'm waiting for Stacey to wake up after she worked all night....
