I saw the movie tonight. No spoilers...but if you are a car person (duh!), a fan of the original transformers, or just love a good action movie. SEE IT! The animation and computer work was amazing, at some points in the movie I had to stop and think to myself...this is digitally animated.

I work down the street from there, too bad the next movie's gonna be Harry Potter. Theaters in India used to be the same way when I was a kid with balconies & private boxes, now they're all multiplexes .

That's another theater I like going to, watched Bond there.

 

Not to change the subject, but theres a beautiful, heartbreaking movie about just that called, " Cinema Paradiso"...has anyone seen it?

I also love the Uptown. It has nice chairs, acoustics, a curved screen if memory serves correctly, and lots of history.

 

yeah Cinema Paradiso has been out for a long time...I saw it when it 1st came out.

 

Amazing CGI! Better than expected. Also, funnier than expected I recommend it.

 

i will be seeing transformers AGAIN this weekend. I can't wait.

 

OK, so Bumblebee was really a VW Bug in the original cartoon.
SO WHY did they make him a freakin camero?
Wouldn't it have been closer to make it a yellow MINI with black
stripes?

Actually, there's now a possibility I may go to a lake house on Lake Gaston (just inside North Carolina) for the weekend... I'll keep you posted. If I end up staying in town, I'm definitely in though.

 

speaking of transformers, when does Mr. OEM turn back into a "complete" MINI?

 

Actually, Transformers is more then likly to be playing next weekend at Bengies and the Dinner and a Drive-In. So if you guys can hold off a week...?

it was so much better than the previews lead on-
it did have a lot of jump cuts and some odd continuity issues (coming from the film maker)
but the script was excelent-
and just incase you all were wondering- the scorpion (Scorponok) guy isnt really trying to hurt anyone - he just wants hugs! : ) (its not a spoiler- its in the trailer)

NO ONE thinks that Bumblebee should have been a MINI???

 

bumblebee aka hot shot in the original tv cartoon was always a camero- i dont remember a beetle...??
however- i do think a mini is needed in the gang- perhaps in the next film?
it can be an ultra small autobot - perhaps a counter to frenzy (the boombox/cellfone) hee hee

VW didnt give them rights. But would MINI have? who knows.
If you saw the movie, they had a yellow bug sitting next to bumblebee
when he's trying to be sold at the car dealership. Bumblebee smacked
the beetle with his door- bit of a smack' to VW.

 

Why wasn't Bumblebee a VW Beetle in the new movie, as he was in the original animated series?Besides, GM locked up exclusive car rights to Transformers quite some time ago, which would have left out the MINI anyhow:As much as I love MINIs, making Bumblebee a MINI really wouldn't have many any more sense than making it a Camaro, either. I think it should have been a new VW Beetle, despite the car's demographics skewing heavily female, and that Bumblebee is bought by a male.
