R56 The Official Nightfire Red Owners Club
The Official Nightfire Red Owners Club
I've seen very little chatter about Nightfire Red orders. My wife and I put in an order in early Feb. MA told us production would start in early March. We were fortified to be patient.
A few weeks ago I saw a MINI bulletin posted somewhere (sorry, can't find it now!) that sure sounded like nothing would start for NF til April. I blocked it out, as if ignoring it would make it not true.
After pestering my MA, we finally got a production number. Now today, ASK-MINI broke my heart; Week 14, first week of April.
Why cruel world?
What is everyone else's situation?
What is your advice to motor myself out of this despression. More importantly, my wife is having a terrible week (month/year) at work. How should I break the news to her when this is something she is so excited about.
Thanks so much!

Good things come to those who wait.
If you guys are that much in love with the Nightfire Red (I don't blame you!), waiting a little longer for it will be worth it.
Buy a NAM calendar and use it as a "Mini countdown".

The only thing that will keep it from being popular is Mini not allowing many of the popular interior choices available. No cloth seats allowed with NF Red. Which is really silly. And limited colorlines as well.
It's like Mini is trying to force this color to be something classier than the other color choices. As far as I am concerned, snobbery has no place in what someone should be allowed to order with their car.
The interior leather choice will be the Tuscan, but my Wife hated the piano black colorline, and that is all you can get with Tuscan.
So, I was forced to order the leatherette interior, so I could get a better choice of other interior colors. I'll just have the seats recovered by a professional shop as soon as I can. I already found a place which does a nice job with hand-stitched custom leather interiors.

Ordered NF - No production # yet
I also ordered a NF cooper last weekend, (3/8) and I've yet to get a production #. When I first started looking at MINI's in Feb, I was told they wouldn't be available until mid April. I don't even know what the color really looks like. Anyone seen one at all?
Other than the color chip, I have not seen it on the car yet. There was supposed to be one at the local car show this weekend, and its placard made the show, but the car was nowhere to be seen.
I got my production number Friday! WOOHOO!

That's a great color. If it had been available for the MCS I would have been very tempted. Too bad it is only MC.
A real person today said that I have been assigned a production pack; no confirmed date, but she said that means real soon!
Skuzz-Hopefully you're in the same boat (figuratively, if not ultimately literally)!

I also called last night and was told they assembled the production pack on Monday, but didn't have a confirmed production date yet. I also got a manual transmission which may have something to do with the delay as well.
Glad to hear that you Nightfire types are finally getting somewhere. I can't wait to see a car in the color. To give you a sense of how the timeline worked for me:
They told me Monday the 12th that they had assembled the daily production pack. Production began on the 19th and it was completed on the 27th and released to the carrier.
I don't know how typical that is, but it seemed to conform to others' experiences.

I can predict exactly when it will arrive at the dealer. May 24; the day before I go on vacation!!!
Ahhhh. Automatic. So, it appears us standard transmission guys/gals are having to wait longer due to the transmission not being available yet.
Well, at least, that is what appears to be happening. So you will, in all likelihood, be the first NAM person with a Nightfire Red Mini if this all holds true.

BTW-taking delivery the day before vacation was not intended to be a good thing. I don't think driving from Boston to Tulum, Mexico is advised for the break in period!
