Anyone read about the upcoming MINIvan?
I read that in the next couple of years or so, mini is adding another model. A minivan. What the heck? I am okay with the countryman SUV, but not a minivan, please!
I'm not sure where you heard that but I would take that story with a grain of salt. Check out Motoring File for product rumors. I've never seen anything like that. Considering the minivan market is dying out in favor of crosovers, i would find it highly unlikely that BMW is pursuing something like that. With three new products coming out in the next two years plus a 3rd generation release in 2013, I would haveserious doubts as to its validity. With limited production capacity, and the European economic state, BWM is not going to risk the developemnt cost on a questionable vehicle.
I heard the same rumors...I can't find the site I read that on.
In the same article, they also mentioned that the clubman was going 4 doors in the next generation.
I will reserve judgement untill I see a real product.

The day MINI makes a MINIVAN will be the day I sell everything and buy a LOTUS.
They had a version of the classic clubman that had panel sides and they called that a van, so maby MINI is thinking of a Clubman Panel Wagon, witch would be cool.

Check out Motor Trend's latest issue.. It is true, there is a concept out there. Whether it will be developed past the stage it is at is the big question..Same with the four door Clubbie.

More Variants and Smaller Engines Coming for 2013

BMW plans to expand the Mini range even further when the next-generation model bows in 2013. And it plans to offer smaller engines: new 1.2- and 1.5-liter gas and diesel three-cylinders that, like the new Mini's platform architecture, will be shared with the forthcoming sub-1 Series front-drive BMW.
Even though the current Mini has just three years to run, BMW is launching three new body styles: The Mini Countryman, which made its debut at Geneva in March and was seen at the New York auto show in April, will be followed next year by the Mini Coupe and the Mini Roadster in 2012. Both cars will look almost identical to the concepts of last year's Frankfurt show.
The third-generation Mini will kick off with the launch of the hatch in 2013, with subsequent body styles rolled out through 2016. The next-generation Clubman reportedly will get four proper doors, and the newcomer to the lineup will be the MiniVan, a small one-box model currently under development in BMW's design studios.

I am glad they are taking the marketplace seriously. They need more product so they can open more dealers. I might not care for a minivan, but I say go for it. Sell more stuff, open more dealers, so we have more options for sales and service.
What they need is a new MINI pickup, with a disel and 4WD/AWD in the US. I would deffinatly buy one.
The oldschool mini pickup is so sweet (and rare) that it needs a revival.
I almost thought of buying a used RedBull MINI to make my own.

FAKE
And no I was actualy looking at a Exige S, right before I left to come over to Iraq, Damn do they look good in black.
But I decided to keep the MINI pay it off and split the differance in mods to make the MINI just as fast on a track. The Lotus would probably still get me in a streight line though but what fun is that.

Cool little truck... it was a creamy yellow color and the commentator said it was in 'rare factory mint condition.' Looked as if it had just rolled off the assembly line yesterday.
Somebody brought a classic Mini truck to MOTD last week. Cute as a bug, but not in mint condition -- you could tell it rolled off the assembly line in 1963 (or so).
Was the classic pickup actually factory produced or was it someone else's creation? I seem to remember that it was really a customized Mini Club Countryman Shooting Brake, as was the classic Mini woody.

I'm not realy sure
I havent actually looked into the history of thr pick up.
I do know that a few days ago somebody was selling one here in the NAM marketplace. It might still be there for the usual rediculosly high price.

What would they offer for mods, Recaro change table in the boot, stainless MINI fridge for cooling the milk, genuine leather MINI diaper bags???
