Help me fit a tire

I have a 2019 CMS and it came with 225 50 18 and there’s a world of gap I’m trying to fill. I think as far as the height goes it’s as simple as measuring the height you have to see what fits. Im guessing it’s the aftermarket wheel offset et35 or 45 etc that pushes the wheels out or in that affects rubbing but if you stick with the 45 you can adjust with spacers. I think. I would love someone to post the biggest tire and offset that could be used. Now according to one member he has an R60 he has stock et with biggest dimension of 28 inch on stock suspension and wheels. I’m looking at an 18x8 et40 wheel.

Here’s my room...Happy Thanksgiving to all also!

I think the real question is how far does the suspension travel before the tire touches. I have similar tire fitting questions. Only want to go to a 27.6 inch all terrain.

GEOLANDAR A/T G015 225/55R18

...the Technician at the tireshop was truely flipped out about this idea... 'it will affect your speedometer (tire size increases speed?), too big for wheel well, etc.' He was a little more comfortable with a 225/50/18 but not much because that isn't manufacturer recommended size.
So a 235/60/18 also should fit. Correct?
I also found a FALKEN WILDPEAK A/T TRAIL 225 /55 R18.
These all have a smaller overall diameter than (28" x 8.5").

That’s true. My current stock tire is 225 50 18. Which is 26.9 high and you see the gap I have. I was looking at a 235 55 which is 28.2 high or I can go with 230 55 which is 28 high and matches the thread below. So I don’t see a problem.

I talked to the Technician and he showed me his concern...he went out to the car and turned the steering wheel as far as it would go in both directions, he was concerned about the clearance between the rear corners of the tire and the back of the wheel well. With the current 225/45/18s there is barely enough room to put your hand back there. He's concerned that in a tight turn over a harsh road there is not enough clearance and the tire could crash the wheel well. My car is not lowered, has the standard suspension for a CTS All4, 18" Turbofan wheels and has 63,000 miles on the original set of shocks and springs. Can you all who got the 225/50/18's (or 225/55/18's) go check this please and let me know if the tire touches the back corners?
Thanks!

My new rims are 18x8 et40 My stock 225 50 18 are 8.9 wide have room. I want to go with a wider tires.Im looking at a 255 45 18 which is 10 inches wide same height and is pushed out more than the stock. I have never seen anyone running a 255 but it says it will work?

I made a chart on this thread.

There's bigger tires discussed here. I'm thinking of putting 235/45/ or 245/45 on my 18" turbofans

I am going to have my guy mount a 245/50/18 on my new 18x8 et40 rim and I am going to install it front and back to check it out. The 245/50 is 27.6H x 9.6W
