225/45ZR17 on an R56

I have tried to find some information, but there is a lack of information if you run this tire on a 42mm offset wheel. Basically I wanted to know if this size would fit with a 42mm offset wheel on stock suspension. If spacers are required I would not hesitate to put them on to accommodate a 225 tire. If anyone has ran this setup please let me know how it turned out. thanks a bunch

you're better off with a 235/40/17. Mach V runs them on the R56 with 17x7.5ET45

Before considering 235/40-17, plan for a wider than stock 17x8 rim for best fit or as close to it. Stock 17x7 is a bit too narrow. You'd risk tramlining on grooved concrete highways.

225/45-17 is a very popular size tire but not the best tire for the MINI due to the larger than stock 25.1" tire diameter.

It can look oversized being too tall for the wheel wells, it decreases wheel gap but also increases the ground clearance of the MINI which isn't the best strategy for handling (higher center of gravity) or looks.

25" tire diameter along with a wider than stock 225mm tire makes for less clearance and risk of rubbing under full load and with uneven roads. Stock tire diameter is about 24.3".

If you want taller then usually 215/45-17 is workable.

As mentioned if you upgrade to wider wheels like 17x8 then
235/40-17 will fit with +38mm to +42mm offset.

235 width on 7.5" works just fine and is within most tire manufacturer's specs.
