Covered bridge tour 2013

Four members of the CRM club met today at the Heston Farm Winery where some good conversation took place and plans made for some upcoming 2013 drives!
Over some good food at Heston's Farm, we talked about what we might like to do this year. At this point, at least four of us are doing the Blue Ridge Parkway Tour with the Tar Heels Mini Club in June. Should prove to be a really neat and fun drive albeit a bit long, but nevertheless FUN. Registration begins late February, so don't miss it.

Also, we thought that on April 13th we would do a Covered Bridge Tour the would cover some of the local and historical covered bridges in our area. To start the drive season we thought it would be nice to get a bit of socialization in and then do a nice drive without burning the entire day up. So mark your calendars for this one. Details to follow.

We looked at some of the logos produced by a "secret" friend of CRM and trying to pick out a logo for our club tee shirts proved to be difficult b/c they all are so darn good. But be watching for updates on this topic. I think it would be good to show our club pride by wearing club shirts on club drives!

I would like to invite any Mini owners to join us anytime for our drives and get togethers. A caravan of Mini Coopers taking the WV twisties is sure to turn some heads as we motor along. So come join the fun. 2013 should be a great year for Country Roads Minis and we want everyone to be a part.

Meeting

I had hoped to meet with you guys yesterday, however, we had plans for a belated Valentines Day dinner. Obviously that was a priority!

BRPT will be a fun time. It will be nice for there to be some WV representation. We've done it 3 times and only seen one other car from WV. On our second year we had an elk cross the road in front of us, in the early morning fog. Now that's exciting!

We thought about going again this year, but have since decided to do the Great Ice Cream Run 4 (GICR4), from Staunton, VA, to Bar Harbor, ME. 3 ice cream stops per day, plus some great scenery, especially in Maine. Sounds fun AND fattening. We'll find out. Visit the Tar Heel MINI website for more info.

Might be able to make the covered bridge run. Not sure if anything else has been planned.

Motor on.

Eagle65: we would love to have you come on a drive with us anytime! It's all about having a nice time driving some of our state's best twisties. You won't be disappointed.

Covered Bridge Tour 2013 - Early Planning

On this cold and rainy evening fit for neither man nor beast, I've done some preliminary planning for our next drive. Starting at Almost Heaven Desserts, I have identified six covered bridges (http://www.coveredbridgemap.com/wv/) that form a good driving loop (see below). I need to plug the coordinates into my GPS and figure whether the mileage is feasible for a day trip.

Our previous tours have been on roads upon which I have travelled previously (believe it or not ), but I've never been to any of these bridges, and know nothing of the roads. It is likely that I will go on a test ride, and may change the sequence of bridge stops. So bear with me on this one!

So mark your calendars for April 13th (yes, I mean you ) and join us for the Covered Bridge Tour!

Mark your calendars!

Fellow CRM members/interested parties:
John has done another bang up good job of posting the route we'll be taking on April 13th to see some of West Virginia's finest covered bridges.
Don't miss out on another opportunity to join us. Our drives are mostly casual with the usual twisties thrown in for good measure. We're a happy bunch and love our Minis.

So please, feel free to join us. We are not formal in any way. We just enjoy driving our Minis all over WV.

Hope to see you then.

Motor Safe!
