well, I'm a little reluctant to be posting in here, since I definitely don't belong, as i know very little about performance, nor am I too concerned about it on my cooper. also seems like most people posting here have modded-out-the-wazoo-s'

But, I shall post anyway. I was just wondering if there is anyone familiar with the latest exhaust tip in the '03 accessories catalogue for the MC. It says "ear-catching sound". But does it actually change anything with the sound from the stock? I was always assuming that it just looked aesthetically pleasing (which is debatable as it takes away from the beer can-inpired look), but i'd like to know if there's any truth to it's claim of sound.

if anyone knows, please share.

Ryan

I was also wondering if the tip made "ear catching sound" so I went to my dealer and asked about it. They had no idea if it made any sound or not. These guys are selling these things and they dont even know if they work or not. It makes me wonder how much they even know about the car! This was at Asael Mini in Monrovia by the way, those people are idiots and It makes me sad I have to go there for service.

Well back to the exhaust tip. The service guy didnt know if it made sound either becuase he never ordered one. Well I said forget it and I went out and got a magnaflow system... that really makes ear catching sound!!!

sorry nfo I don't have any pics of my car ...and I've had it for 6 months!!! I'll be taking lots of pics of it and other Mini's this Sat. at the Big Bear meet and I'll post them as soon as I can.

I've never heard the Magnaflow on the S so I wouldnt know if my Magnaflow is as loud. My guess is no its not as loud but I could be wrong. The Magnaflow for the cooper (non S) sounds great! Its not too loud at all but it is a lot louder then stock. It has a really nice growl at full throttle too and on the freeway you can still listen to the radio and talk normally. I also have an intake so that also makes it a little louder. I think the magnaflow is great and I can really feel the extra power in the mid range.

How much is the actual sport exhaust installed and everything, i heard it was a lot?

Someone else said that it does change the sound, but also said that it "be noticeable to people who dont know the regular noise"(meaning it isnt very noticeable to the untrained ear i think)

If you're talking about just the chrome tip...It is welded over the end of the stock exhaust. I had it as a dealer added option when I bought my Cooper. It is more of an aesthetic thing and looks better than the the little stock tip looks in the aerokit. As for the sound, It might make a difference...but I can't tell since I have added a Monster Intake that dramatically changed the sound.

FINALLY! Someone who has the magnaflow for the Cooper! I've been eyeing this system, but wanted to hear an opinion before I spend the cash. Any chance you can make a sound sample to share? How much did it set you back? Where did you get it? Also, what intake are you using?

How do I make a sound sample? sorry I don't know how to do all that cool stuff, I dont even have a digital camera yet! I've seen the magnaflow for the cooper advertised for $550 but I got mine for $450 with shipping on ebay. I have the intake from Moss Mini. It set me back $120 but they have sales going on sometimes ( they had a winter sale after i bought mine ) It looks and sounds great!

I really like the magnaflow system, Im in So Cal and will be at the big bear meet this weekend if anyone wants to see or hear the magnaflow system for the cooper.
