K&N Air Filter for '05 Cooper (non S) 57i Induction Kit

Finally a major manufacturer has come up with an air filter for the '05 Coopers. You can see it here. I will be ordering it tomorrow.

That doesn't look that hard to make as a Home Depot special.

Good stuff! Let us know how the installation goes!

I'm having a bit of trouble ordering it with a overseas credit card....

I'd like to see what you think about it after you've had it for a bit. Thinking this is a Christmas present for my wife's MCC. I had just ordered a K&N panel filter for it but an intake with cone filter has to be better.

Ordered!

I called K&N to order my '05 filter intake. Apparently they are going to stop production for the '02 -'04 intake kit. So all Mini Cooper filters will be the latest '05 model...

Can't wait for it to come!

I ordered it on the 18th. I called yesterday morning, and it is on back-order. It should ship by the end of next week.

They did not tell me that it would be back-ordered, apperently they have had a big rush on the 57i kits.

I will keep you all posted.

all 57i kits, not only the MINI. The guy at K&N said they did not ramp up the line before the new products were introduced.

They are made "overseas" and need to be shipped to K&Ns warehouse, then shipped to customers.

Well ain't that just great. FYI, the guys at Myminiparts are saying that should have a CAI (that's right CAI) for '05. They have one for 02-04 which has been discussed here before, but now they are saying they should have one for '05 soon. Might be worth looking into. They are claiming 5hp gain vs. estimated 0 for K&N.

If and when they do, I am certainly open to buying a better alternative!

Bloody hell, it's been 2 weeks and i haven't recieved the filter. I just called K&N and they said that it'd take another 8-9 weeks because they manufacture the filter in Europe, more specifically, Holland.

I'm not a happy camper at the moment.

That's lame. I hate when vendors take your money and then tell you that the part is backordered for weeks/months. I certainly won't be buying a K&N.

They haven't charged my debit card yet. And I asked, today and they won't charge the card until it ships.

OK, then. Still lame that they're taking orders on their website and not giving any indication the part is out of stock for at least 2-3 months.

I happened to call their customer service today about another issue, and asked them about the induction kits. They told me these are a European product that is just being introduced to the US market and each one has to be ordered (internally to K&N) from their European distributor.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of it once you finally get it. My wife's MCC could use a little more breathing room

Yes, and when I talked to them I let them know, how unhappy I am. No notification, that it was on backorder, nothing other than the confirmation email, that my order had been placed.
