The very end result for my mini will be a gutted crate motor bored out to 2.0L w/ ballenced crank, conn rods and pistons. Ballenced agressive cams, with oversized intake & exhaust valves w/ dual springs. Ported, polished and blueprinted head. Ported & polished custom intake manifold w/ custom oversized polished TB. Oversized 420cc injectors w/Hiflow fuel pump and oversized fuel rail. Cutom polished and blueprinted exhaust header matted with a Garret GT35 twin scroll turbo system and custom 3" exhaust. Along with the best ancillary equipment I figure I might get over 300hp and even better torque. This engine is my choice for road racing and not for AutoX.
When I get my parts list completed...we can hold hands and take that $15-20K plunge together....

I just got off the phone with my son and we have made the decision to go with titanium pistons and connecting rods for my turbo project. And thier going to be free!!! This motor is gonna be sick!!! (my son has got one hell of an idea for this project) I just need to find a clutch strong enough that will bolt to the flywheel!!

Dan...ya think you got enough credentials in you signature J/K My budget is getting squeezed alittle since Mark decided he wanted to go on a cruise with a bunch of Mini folks. And since it's around my 40th birthday and our 15th wedding aniversary and we were "thinking" about one anyway...Gina said "were there!" My camber plates will be here on Monday so it looks like another (sleepless) night of front suspension work. I also have an appointment for a custom alignment ( going to mark out the plates -.5, -1.5, -1.75, -2.0, -2.125, -2.25, and if possible -2.5) and drive off at -.5 front and 1.5 rear. I'm going to run at -2.0 at the next event, but for the practice day I'm bringing a jack and tools.

Hmmm, the problem with doing that, is you cant really adjust the front camber without changing other geometery at the same time. I believe the toe will change as you slide the camber plates, so you cant really go from -.5 on the street and -2 in front without doing a re-alignment of the whole front suspension, unless I totally mis-read what i was told prior.

That is correct....changing camber changes the toe!

When we (me and the alignment shop) set each camber setting we will mark out the tie rod adjusters after we adjust it back to where I want it. If you know of an easier way to keep toe in check I'll try it. I will make the adjustments the night before and then change back when I get back to dad's house before the trip up the hill.

Sounds like a good plan.
I know that Fireballed also offers a turbo kit that gives 320whp on normal gas and 420whp on 110 octane.

Keep us posted when you start your project, sounds very interesting.
So far, the highest hp for a Cooper non S is 150hp at the flywheel, no forced induction or nitrous.
The highest hp for a Cooper using forced induction has about 600whp.

Kind regards

What kind of budget have you set up for your project if I may ask ?
I hope it's plenty, looking at some of those parts

It will be very interesting to follow.

Kind regards

To give you an idea, this Lohen setup is to max out the engine not using forced induction or nitrous.

Superchips Bluefin with Lohen LO3 map
Milltek Cat-back exhaust
Modified manifold & removable high-flow cat
Pipercross Viper kit
Iridium spark plugs
Lohen Performance Head
Camshaft
Exhaust valves
Lohen 58mm Throttle body
Replacement gaskets & head bolts

Cost : $7000

Kind regards

Another package:

Intercooler including diverter, sprayer nozzle : $700
Garret GT3071R, manifold, downpipe, oil and coolant lines, pressure pipe,... : $3500

On top of that the following parts would also need to be changed:
-clutch
-gearbox
-engine work
-brakes
-...

Kind regards

I attended AMVIV V and while I was there on Thursday George of Mini Madness was offering ECU upgrades with a "over the road" option (which I opted for) for the MC. I must say that my expectations were exceeded!! Not only is the MC much stronger from 2800rpm to 6000rpm but throtle response was as it should be "right on". Another added bonus is it also showed me where I had other issues that could be corrected outside of the tune! A BIG thanks goes out to George and the tunning team for the tune as it allowed me to grab a first place in class and 7th overall in the North American Mini Cooper Challenge Series this year!! BTW there was no noticable difference in gas millage although I'm able to get up to speed ALOT faster!
