How many Austin Cooper "S" 's were imported in?

Hey all, just trying to get a feel on how rare this car is...I have the opportunity to buy a 1965 Austin Mini Cooper "S", its LHD, and I have the Heritage Trust showing that it was a NA export. How many of these cars are still around today and how many were orignally shipped in?

Thanks!
JR

general answer...
Mk1 only
1275cc - 1965 Austin export = 1,324 Morris export = 1,551 or 2,875
998cc - 1965 Austin export = 2,805, Morris export = 2,725 or 5,530
970cc - 1965 Austin export = 24, Morris export = 9 or 33

So total export was 8,438. I assume that was to the world not just NA.

You need to identify the build date and build specification to determine how rare within these categories it is.

You need to buy/borrow Original Mini Cooper and Cooper S The restorer's Guide by John Parnell, ISBN 0-7603-1228-1

I am already one step ahead of you. Build date 5-13-65. Ship date 5-21-65. The build spec shows that it was a LHD, North America export, destination shows that it was sent to a dealer in the USA. The colors were Tartan red with a black top, interior was red and gold. Only factory fitted equipment was a fresh air heater (maybe dealer was a Northern state?). Would that be enough info to determine how rare it is?
