want rallye lights, but no bumper.
i keep seeing these minis with great rallye lights on the front and my poor mini doesn't have a bumper to attach them too. other than re-bumpering, does anyone have any suggestions on how to do it?

That's one way to stop your distributor getting wet every time you drive through a puddle.
Great looking brick! Can anyone tell me where I can get covers like your headlight covers (wire mesh) for MINI factory rally lights?

You need to search some of the UK sites. Those are 7" but I think I've seen them also in 6". Search for Driving/fog lamps & accessories. Even try eBay UK. My lamps are 50's-60's Lucas SLR/SFT700's but they made them in 6" called SLR/SFT 576's. I think I saw a Healey or Jag site that had 6" mesh on a stand that mounted under your lamp, but I don't recollect where....

Look under chrome. If you don't have a bumper I am assuming that it has been shaved off, along with the sheet metal lip. If this is the case, you will probably have to use grille mounted lights because most lights and light bars mount to the sheet metal under the bumper. A few options include buying the brackets that Huddersfield Spares has on the above website or using boot spotlights, which have a big mounting bolt that sticks out the back rather than a bracket on the bottom. This makes it easy to mount to the grille - just use a big fender washer on each side and push the bolt through the grille.

The lamp bar on my Mini only has 1 bracket (center) which attaches to the bumper mounting flange. This support could easily be modified to fit in another manner. The end brackets attach to the front grill surround on top of the curve below the turn lamps. (see photo). Additional support brackets can be run from the ends and center back under the grill to steady the bracket. The two other Minis with the same setup I saw @ MME had such additional brackets.
I just found the magazine ad I have been looking for. There is a company in England that makes the front light bars similar to those on the cars of the original Italian Job. Unfortunately, they don't have a Website but they are called T.T Lyle Metal Designs. Their phone number is 01328864902 If you have a copy of the January 2005 issue of Mini Magazine (or if somebody can scan and post it), the ad is on the bottom of page 138.
