Who puts a bumper sticker and has a license plate for a car that has supposedly never been on the road? You wouldn't buy a 1990 mini as an investment anyway. It looks nice but I don't buy the story.

Well, it looks clean. Wouldnt be hard to tell if the story was true or not looking at the car in person.

If you buy a new car in the UK it gets license plates attached by the dealer at point of sale and they stay with the car for life.
Most UK dealers also fit a "bumper sticker" in the rear window in the showroom, this one looks like "Appleyards", so I don't see any reason to doubt the story. Also when the Mini Cooper was re-introduced in early 1990's many were bought as a long term investment and went straight into storage or car collections. Many have since been sold and I suspect several more will appear in future years including some from the last 500 specials in 2000.

silly me, I thought that plastic gauge pod was from the 70's... On 1990 models too? I don't collect cars nor do I think of them as investments--but it would be fun to have 19-year old mini that's in showroom new condition. Just think, if it were stored just a little longer, it would be a legal US import.

If I bought it, would you be kind enough to store it until 2015? Of course, you'd have to turn it over once in a while and keep fresh petrol in it.

It is an interesting link, but it breaks our (US) hearts as we have some really idiotic laws to protect us from ourselves.... .

I would gladly store it for you as a fellow enthusiast but unfortunately I only have a single car garage and it already has a Mini in it!

We too are rapidly gaining many idiotic laws especially on Health and Safety from mainland Europe...........the rest of Europe ignores most of them but here in the law abiding UK they are being strictly enforced.

He wore quite a spot in the carpeting near the gas pedal over "only" 55 miles. Unless it's just dirt from the gravel driveway... (shrug). Too hard to tell from crappy eBay photos. Looks awfully clean either way, and it will make a nice car for SOMEONE.
