LOL Honestly the tiling isn't too hard. The cutting is a bit of a pain but other than that it isn't too hard... Haven't started on the hardwood yet..

Cab get better quickly!

hi all and good night all....
We're leaving Maine on the 11th (Tues) and are heading to Mass for a day or so (all that historical stuff there, don'tcha know). Then heading to Philly. I'm trying to figure out our plans as my cousin is leaving and heading to Maine... so I'm guessing we'd be there around Thursday... I'm really looking forward to meeting you... and Cab! But, I think we'll need to dose Cab with lysol, yes?

Then it will be off, hopefully with a stop over in DC. It all depends on what our time is looking like. But if I can get Mass and Philly in the kids noggins, then their history classes will be a lot easier. And we can finish up my son's summer project.

OK, off for more coffee... Still not over the jet lag.

OMG--- If by the 13th I need to be dosed with Lysol then just forego that step and shoot me!! I am better... nothing like returning to the Dr and getting the correct medicine to make a huge improvement overnight. Not working until Thursday, just to be safe, but am much better!!
If we are panning on meeting up during the evening then I need a wee bit of notice. I might have to move some clients appts around..

Yeah, I'd guess she'd decline the position in a heartbeat ! I can imagine she was in a hurry to "escape" after the interview. Poor thing, she must have been thinking the same that the rest of you are.. "How come nobody has done anything about this??" Its redonkulous!

Don't worry Gem, if we get in on Thursday, we'll not leave until sometime Friday... maybe we could have lunch together? But don't put the Thursday down in stone yet. I am still playing with this thing.

Has anyone ever called about Cujo? I mean, would you like me to make a call? I might even offer to go to the building first and meet Cujo first hand. Then call the Humane society and the police.

That's just dangerous... and I'm a big animal lover...

Hey Sarah- I'm here for ya too- sending hugs- V

You could see what tile you need cut and then take it up to lowes and they'll cut it for you.

MiniXb it will be at least a year before we are even able to consider starting that project, but thanks for the Lowe's idea.

Cab- You still got that bug??? Had I known that you were working with walking petri dishes... yikes... I may have reconsidered our "meet" in Jupiter! Just kidding... I still would have gone... I just would've worn a mask!

Gem- I was thinking earlier about offering to call Animal Control about that dog. (Actually I had written about it on my big post the other day that never went through.) Anyway, just saw that TNMM mentioned doing something. Of course IIIIIIIIII have no problem turning these idiots in either.

GI JOE- glad to see you're still here with us! You do seem to fit in quite well. (Not sure if that's a GOOD thing for you... hopefully it is! )

I was concerned that you might not come back after the talk about re-vins. I prefer to call these cars "updated to specs"... unless I plan to call someone out for it... and we ALL know there are people that deserve to be called out (not mentioning any names). I think that only two things can happen when telling someone his/her car is a re-vin: 1. The new owner knows that the car is a re-vin and doesn't want to talk about it because it's not legal... OR 2. The owner has no idea and would be really upset that he/she just paid LOTS of money for a car that isn't worth what he/she thought. And anyway, I think most "Classics" that WE see are not true CLASSICS. Re-vins happened quite a bit in the '70s and '80s... and yes, it still happens today. I understand it's a big deal for hard core CLASSIC people. MINIxB is lucky to have her CLASSIC. I really love the '60s models and I also love the mid-late '90s. '97s are sweet. So for the rest of us...

HAHAHA!!! I'm the only one on here right now!

RJ- Beautiful fireplace! Great front door! Lovin' the MOCHACHINO color! Behr makes some really nice colors. My personal favorite is called "Lemon Chill".

So with you and MINIxB talking about these projects... got me thinking about all the projects that we've done. We bought a HomeDepot book when we bought our first house. It was a SMALL house... tax records showed something like 480sf but there was an additional 200sf (or so). Anyway, the husband worked on electrical stuff and minor plumbing. We both did tile work and refinishing wood floors. I did some framing and drywall. We bought that house in downtown Sarasota for about $50k. We didn't have much money so there was a lot of sweat equity. We lived there for 2 years and rented it out for 3. Sold it after 5 years for about $165k (I think).

Our second house was new. MUCH better neighborhood. I designed our pool and we had that put in after we moved in. We lived there for about 2 years and rented it out for about 2.5 years. Most of the things we did to fix that house happened AFTER the last tenants we moved out. In that house we put up beadboard and did trimwork. After the tenants, we put in floating wood floors (Brazilian Cherry) and then we paid a company to put in granite in the kitchen and marble in the master bath. (This was at the time when housing inventory started building up and we needed to make our home stand out. Some houses had been on the market for many months but ours had an offer after about 60 days.) I think we spent about $5000 to fix it up but it was money well spent. Too bad we hadn't sold it about 10 months earlier! Would have made an extra $100k!

This house we're in now has another pool that I designed. About the only things "we've" done or had done so far beadboard and trim, paint, I made upholstered cornice boards for window treatments and WE have done LOTS of landscaping.

Of course, one common theme here is that we usually get our "projects" done for the NEXT owners. The first house never had the white picket fence until it was being sold. The second house didn't have the granite in the kitchen until it was being sold. I don't know what will happen with this house. The real estate market is pretty awful so I don't think we'll be moving anytime soon.

BUT... I guess my main point of this was that we learned lots from the HomeDepot book. (We used HomeDepot because we didn't have a Lowe's back then.) And when we did the tile in the first house, we put down all of our uncut pieces... marked the pieces that needed to be cut and then went to HomeDepot and cut them all. It was cheaper than renting a saw at home and it was easy. And I'm kind of a girly girl... just ask Cab and UHOH.

I don't have a problem with the re-vins it just bugs me when I read that it has been "updated to..." because I know when I look at the car that it's not a 69 or whatever year they say... And you really don't have to worry about a re-vin once it has been brought in because there is not much they can do about it now that it is already here... I know mine is a 77 because if you look on the boot latch it tells you the week and year the car was made. Week 52/1976.

I wondered what happened once it was here. I was thinking it went to the crusher.

Miniola, I caught the comment and have chosen to look past it. I was warned that there are hard core folks out there that will bash a later model car. I tend to say nothing, when there is nothing constructive to say. I am one that learned after the deal, while trying to learn about my car specs. I remember seeing/reading a story in the late 90's about Rover actually retro fitting cars and reselling them. I figured mine was one of those. Either way, that's enough on that subject!
It'll take a lot more than a little comment to get rid of me!! Of course, selling my car will slow my attendance down a bit. Yes, it's on the block. Just not good timing for me to have two toys. I won't mind if it doesn't sell, but the $$ is more importante` at this time..

If they figure it out when it's at customs they will squish it. I really don't have a problem with re-vins. One of the Mini's I was is a 1996 Equinox. Plus the newer mini's start better and run better than the older ones. LOL
