Hoppy Easter to you too Gem- Glad you spent the evening with your Dad- treasure him while you still have him. I miss mine pretty badly, and it's been 3 years.

Hugs-

oh, and there's a bunny smiley running around, but it's not a family oriented bunny... heh heh heh ... so, at your own risk... here's that bunny post:

Yup - I have a set of two, with matching earbuds (JUST LIKE IN THE ITALIAN JOB!!) [I had to get the earbuds - I couldn't hear anybody over the open windows/sunroof, and the blaring music. I also needed to get the push to talk versions, so that nobody else would be blasted by my uncontrollable yodeling along with the music...]

OK, Hal, I got one... X if you need, I have more than one! Oh this is gonna be fun!!! Freebies on the loose at the Dragon!

Oh- quickie question- I've heard/read about people mounting cameras on their dashes... HOW?!
WELL!!!!! SINCE YOU ASKED! I actually broke down and bought a dual camera mount for the car - clips into the seat headrests and the cameras are between the seats. The "small" one wasn't in stock when I wanted it so i just broke down and got the "big" one - with TWO camera mounts (one to point forward, one to point rear?) But I only have ONE video camera, and that only records to a tiny DVD...I haven't figured out how to extract it from the DVD to put online yet.

SHOCKING! Especially considering where it was "borrowed" from... .

I wonder how Lil Beastie's doing. I think she's in the Panhandle... they've had quite a bit of rain and some flooding.

Wow... you guys sound seriously ready for MOTD! Does anyone know why it's planned for late April/early May? I'm sure there was a reason... I was just wondering if anyone knew. I wish it was in June or late October. I think I'll head up to the Smokies in late October... there's a good sized part of the Blue Ridge that I haven't been on.

Has anyone been to Lake Lure and Bat Cave area? I like those two places. So many beautiful places to drive up there.

You know you laughed at those "smilies."

Hopefully, Lil Beastie will come online soon and let us know...where was Kiki again? And has anybody heard from her lately?

You know, the Tar Heels MINI Motoring Club (THMMC) has a Sleeping Dragon run in October? They're also doing a 3-dayish Blue Ridge Parkway run (from NC to VA) this year in June - I'm going on that too. I don't get "vacations" so that's as close to it as I can get.

I'll go and reserve the channel.

What shall I call our little rag-tag bunch? Freebies? I'm open for suggestions.

I just bought a camera mount from another NAMer. Mine is a suction cup with an articulated joint ending in a standard 1/4-20 camera mount. I'm just going to mount my video camera to the front windshield.

Ok that was funny!! thanks for sharing that it just made my day!!!

My dad and i are very close and always have been. He has Alzheimer's, horrible to watch and even harder when you just want to see him smile! He does smile alot and usually i can make him laugh. I cry just at the mention of my dad. I miss him so much he was my sounding board over a glass of home made Italian wine. I would love get his advise one things but that has become an impossible task in the last year. It was the toughest year ever with him and then loosing my job... and couldn't even talk to him about it. but while not working I spent alot of time with him, which was great.
I'm sorry about your dad, I get teary eyed just thinking about it.
sorry all I didn't intend to get that deep about the subject.

Thanks for the hugs TN.

Hey Gem!! Congratulations!! You really hung in there and didn't give up and now you have the job that ( sounds like) you were really shooting for!
I know you will be sad to leave that broom closet and that charming boss at the jewelry place but you will get over it!!

As for your father, it sounds like you have a wonderful relationship with him and I envy you that. I have never had that sort of relationship with either of my parents.
I am so sorry that both of you are going through this, Alzheimers is a real tough disease for everyone involved. I agree with TNmm, come here to us whenever you need to "talk" that is what is so great about this Freebie thread, we have big shoulders and even bigger ears and we will always be here for you.

Now go kick *** at your new job!! This gives me hope for my husband!!

Thanks Cab, for that great pep talk! I love coming in here, even on the toughest days my freebie freinds are there!!!!
I was never close to my real mother, (my step mother is the best) that is why my dad is and always has been my "rock". So now i need to be there for him.
I really feel the economy is getting a little better, i have been getting more calls then the first couple months. I do have another company on hte back burner if this doesn't work, but this company is really professional! I'm hoping for the best. and a real office i won't have to move a hand truck out of the way to get into the file cabinet! and has heat and air conditioning!!! wow, I can say even a window! best of luck with you hubby searching!!
Running in today to meet with the owners and get little details straight and run some errands.
bye for now. and Thanks again!

Closet? Are you kidding me?

My mom recently sent me a picture of opening my first computer. I was 13. It was a commodore 64. I was grinning like this: behind coke bottle glasses.

And, you have read my blog, right?

My house is the epitome of nerddom. I have a six foot long linen closet that I took the doors off of so we could store the D&D and Rifts books in there. I debate the virtures of mac vs pc and which electronic gadget I'm going to buy next with my friends. I have my ridiculous anime collection, I paint miniatures... I have two game consoles plugged into my television with another one plugged into another television...

I don't know how much more nerdery one needs to qualify as an out of the closet nerd... but I'm pretty sure I meet the mark and then some!
