Double Wall Boot Lid

Double wall boot lid?

I am looking for an original double wall boot lid for a 67 MKII. Any ideas? I have tried all the usual sources but only find fiberglass or later models.

Did you try...

Did you try Seven?

They have it listed.....worth a call
http://www.7ent.com/detail.cfm?pageid=1303
Seven can also find 'used' sometimes....

The new MOSS site has it listed too....but again, I'd call rather than web order

http://www.mossmotors.com/

I'd expect 7 to be a bit better and maintaining their online inventory status.... I see, as you prob'ly did that MiniMania says the MK1/2 is 'unavailable'

They are still produced as far as I know.

Here's one listed in Canada. I've used BMC before and they are good folks.

the bootlid pictured is from a very late (1970) mk2 or a mk 3 +. The earlier mk1/mk2 bootlids have a different indentation for the British license plate.

Prior to Dec 1966 all MKI Cooper models had a single skin. (with the hinged tag) Late MkIs had double skin. All had hinged license depression

MkII introduced the double skin. Retained hinged license depression of MkIs.

MkIII went back to single skin with same plate depression as shown above @ BMC. (altho some very early MKIIs may have double skin).

From my searching, I was able to find a MkI boot lid for my 64 S. But first, I was shipped a MkIII. I imagine a MkII may be difficult to find.

And I believe Innocenti had an entirely different plate configuration. I would recommend fiberglass. I have molds for the double skin and haven't actually seen any stock ones for sale in quite some time.

Double Wall Boot Lid

Thank you all for the information. Unfortunately all the boot lids available throught the usual retail outlets do not match the original. I will probably have to use the fiberglass one I have until I can find a used one. the attache picture is what the original looks like.
