D-Series VTEC MiniTec Pickup joining the fleet

Thanks for the input. Actually, I plan to go with chrome mirrors, Mk1 grille and matching body-color red Line-X Xtra bed liner, rather than attaching a black tonneau cover. Probably makes more sense to keep the wheels silver. I've seen some red saloons w/black centers and they look great, though...
How's your pickup treating you? Someday we'll cross paths.

I took it to a car show about two weeks ago and got a nice shot or two setting beside a 4x4. I'll have to post a picture when I get them on the computer.
Personally if I had to choose between black or silver Revos on your pickup, I'd definitely go silver. The black doesn't look right with the white roof IMHO.
On the other hand, who says you have to go silver or black? What about red or white and keep the polished lip, or even white with a red edge? Hmm, I'm thinking even red with a white edge and polished lip might look sweet. Keep playing with Photochop and you'll get something stunning.

2phun-
Black centers not matching the white top theme is why I posted the question. I've been indecisive as to whether I think it works. Probably should go the safe route and leave them silver-- live with it for a while.

Here's another update photo that I didn't discover until this week. MiniTec fabricated a new license plate holder that fits US spec plates. Pickups usually have a bracket that swivels down when the tailgate is open, thus keeping a legal (proper) view of the license plate when carrying cargo with the tail gate open. Since I'll never be hauling pigs (one swine at a time) to market anytime soon, I have no need or interest in the OEM swivel feature. I've seen some less than perfect combinations of US & Brit plate arrangements on pick-ups. I like this solution.

Ok, here's another PhotoChopped rendition showing what red-spoked wheels could look like. Any opinions on red wheels? I think they might work better than black centered wheels, because of the white top, but I'm still not sure if leaving them silver isn't the best idea.
thanks for the responses.
2phun- When I get time, could be a couple weeks from now, I'll PhotoChop some white ones and post them. White might be a pretty tough mock-up for a web-quality snapshot, as the old English white (color of the roof) is pretty subtle and will probably get lost on the wheels.

Yeah, I was playing around with your pickup a while back when you first mentioned it. The resolution on the photo was a bit low to make a quality mockup, but I still liked what I saw.
Got any higher res photos?

Mini pick-ups aren't that tiny. It's just that all the American trucks have the human growth hormone virus and are growing exponentially. Look at what's happened to this beast since the last post!
Silver wheels, for sure. It's classic.
FWIW on the Brat seats - the reason those seats were in the bed was because of the customs laws of the day. Having 4 seats made it a "car" instead of a "truck" - and duty on cars was far lower than on trucks.
Your truck looks great. I want one. Go with the red bedliner material - if it fades, redo it or go black. Get a tonneau cover too, that way it won't fade (and you have some storage!).
Great trucklet.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I love those red wheels that 2phun posted. Might be best to keep 'em silver and live with it for a year. (then paint red).
Interesting factoid on the subie brat rear seats. Makes sense. I've considered a cover for the bed, but don't like the idea of having those 6-8 fasteners attached to the sides. I also question whether a black cover would work that well with the old english white cab. Red bedliner for sure.

Well... I suppose you could go with a matching white tonneau... and if you make it right you can make a frame that sits on top of the bed sides and secures with j-hooks (vinyl padded hooks, of course) into the bed sides so you don't have snaps. Just a thought... maybe an aluminum frame with tubing, covered in white vinyl? I dunno, just thinking... it's sure a SWEET truck. My son (15) wants a Mini truck just like yours. I think he'd paint it orange though (that's just him). Mine? It'd be red like yours, white roof, silver Minilite wheels...
Dixonl2-
Silver Minilites are what I would as a second set of wheels. IF this build turns out as great as I hope it is likely that I would buy a set of 10x6 minilites with Yoko AO32 sticky tires for excessive fun, and keep the faux Revos with A008's for regular fun.
Haven't checked into it yet, but I figured it would be really hard to get a vinyl bed cover to match the old English white color. If there's a bed cover, I think OE white would be the way to go.

You should be able to find something in marine vinyl fairly easily - I'd bet if you're near a decent size harbor you'd even find a marine awning guy who could fab up an aluminum frame and tie downs for you too! That'd look
sweet.
Gotta admit, though - you've got my truck. Love it. I'd be VERY torn between the Revos and the Minilites. Both look great. Sportpak wheels are also very cool, but need the flares etc.

update- real photos, no Photochop visions this time.
Interior coming together. Made a switch faceplate for the dash that incorporates A/C controls among the OE-type toggles. Ahh, yes, the essential A/C. I plan to drive when it's hot and not suffer heat stroke during MidWest summers. If this A/C works reliably, I'll organize a MiniTec fan club and be a life-time charter member!

Engine bay taking shape. New intake manifold since my last photo. No details on this specific intake yet--sorry.

Man, Don...the boys look to be doing an exceptional job.
The new overflow they're using sure is sharp.
Where's the intake?
Did you ask them to powder coat the valve cover or did they do that of their own accord (nice pun, eh?)?
Is that the standard MT radiator or is it thicker? Looks thicker but what do I know...
Shameless Mini Tec emblazoned logo but it does look good...
I've said it once and I'll say it again, I think the D series with 10" rims and A/C is the way to go. Hind sight is 20/20, some have said.
But as for you, I must quote Red Leader, "...all most there...stay on target...all most there..."
