D-Series VTEC MiniTec Pickup joining the fleet
Can't agree with you more. Figured they were 10x6 and 165s, but I just wanted to make sure. Such a sweet look
When the time comes, I may go with the A032s, but yours look a little more practical.
Those guys sure can polish a turd...
Seriously though, is that going to resolve the issue?
I'm not on board. I don't think they look right...looks like some Chevy truck of the 70's with the Samity Sam "back off" mud flaps.

Hope my W&P/10" combo doesn't give me the problems that you bigwheel boys are discussing regarding the gray traveller. Would a clear bra app. on the lower panels solve the problem--or do these jumbo 13"s kick up a huge swath of nasty?
Exactly. In a PM I exchanged with Travis I explained that was my thought as to being able to remedy the issue. My rear lower panel looks like a course in sandblasting with only nine months (3 in hand) of driving. Spoke to a custom paint guy around here and that's what he thought would be best for me - move flares, paint, 30 day wait then clear bra. Since I want to recraft the flares for the "low bad machine" look a-la Cheech Marin, I'll handle those issues in one swipe...so I think.
DuongR56, Funny you should mention black... My past 7 cars were black and my wife begged me to go for a little color in my life. The trucklette was already red when I bought it. Had I chosen the color it would have been black or maybe one of the vintage MK1 mini colors. Raiders colors would be nice. I really like the silver tops available on R53 and R56s.
Meno, I just looked at a Mercedes AMG blahblahbla 6.8 yesterday and noticed that it had really discreet extra heavy duty "clearbra" type of application on the arches. It was subtle, yet looked like it would be rugged. Come to think of it, don't wide-flared Porsches, (I'm thinking late 70's 930s) have stick-on chip-guard material on the fronts of those massive rear flares?

Most German cars have a think coating under the paint on the rockers and lower front parts of the rear fenders and valances to help with rock chips. Those early Porsches had a vinyl applique on the leading edge of the rear fenders, the idea was that it was easily replaceable when it got chipped up by rocks and saved the paint and metal underneath, but they were all black -not clear...........I think the clearbra idea would help, but mines been chipped pretty good on the hood of my MINI, what would it look like on the Mini where the paint's already been removed in three months? Maybe a double layer?
Hi Keith, good to see you on the boards...
update:
talked to camp Royston two days ago and word is they have just finished painting the W&P arches body-color red, removed the "Honda" lettering from the valve cover and painted it body-color red, and are finishing up interior electricals. They just finished fabricating some custom switch plates, one of which relocates the AC/heater ***** into the dash, rather than the switchplate that hangs off the bottom of the evaporator. They are fabricating an oval center binnacle face plate that's about .5" wider than OEM, which is necessary to accomodate my Autometer gauge choice. MiniTec's five-gauge dash layout is really cool, but I opted for the parcel shelf/center binnacle config. for its open, MkII minimalism.
Below is another one of my crude and quick mock-ups:

I just received a 4-sentence email today. They might send some progress photos by Friday. They might begin working on the center binnacle gauge faceplate this week (as shown in my crude pen & ink drawing a couple of posts earlier).
June ETA? Hmm, doubt that. One thing for certain is that they have finished at least one of the four cars, which, apparently was higher priority than mine. The optimistic perspecitive of this slower than previously hoped-for pace is that it will be HOT/HUMID as Hell in Georgia by the time they begin beta-testing it's new-fangled AC unit. That's right--get it sorted out in Georgia so once it's in Kansas City, an equally suffocating environment, I will have dependable, cool A/C and hopefully forego the telephone tech support that Meno and others have faced with their A/C after delivery.

Oi!
Ok, since I don't really have squat to report regarding my build, I'll humor y'all with what my trucklette WON'T look like.
Those are some pretty "meaty" treads on that rascal--and, it's AWD! Just think, you could enter this in a "Monster Truck" event, and have it jump over rows of pedal cars. The organizers wouldn't even need a huge arena--think of the cost savings everywhere!

Don - your A/C might get beta testing in the same way MINE got beta testing. Beta is the name of the dog out back of the shop in Royston!
Drive it there before you take delivery and drive it hard like it will be by all of the other customers looking to buy and find the red truck demo.
(smiley sinister laugh not available at time of selection)

Buck up Don, I still don't have my Classic either, and all he had to do was get a title!
June 20, 2008 update:
I was promised some build update photos recently. Here's what I received. Someday, yes, someday--I'll actually drive this trucklette. But for now, it's still a virtual toy. I have been told that the jacked-up 4x4 stance is due to MiniTec not having adjusted the suspension yet. I hope so, because I'd like the rear to be about 4" lower than pictured--and perhaps another inch lower in front, providing there's oil sump clearance.

Ok, I have question for everyone. Should I have the Revo wheel spokes painted black, like the PhotoChop doodle below, or should I leave 'em silver. The center caps are definitely coming off.
I like the silver look better unless you are going for the blacked out effect on the rest of the truck.
gasmini03-
Thanks for the input. Actually, I plan to go with chrome mirrors, Mk1 grille and matching body-color red Line-X Xtra bed liner, rather than attaching a black tonneau cover. Probably makes more sense to keep the wheels silver. I've seen some red saloons w/black centers and they look great, though...
How's your pickup treating you? Someday we'll cross paths.
