Midwest Glass in Melrose Park 25th and Lake they do all the cop cars in the area. It may look dumpy but the guy does great work.

i think your talking about Z-TEC or whatever. thats right down the street from my place. i use to work there back in the day. its a real good place but they over charge for their tint work.

the place my buddies have used and have done nothing but praised is express auto glass on ogden by the portillos in naperville. very well priced and they do one hell of a job on their tinting and are very easy to work with. im sure you know the portillos there on ogden in naperville. express is right past it connected to the jiffy lube and merlins on the south side of the street directly across from the advance auto parts store (which is where i currently work).

I would recommend Express auto glass. The tinter (Dave) is a buddy of mine, and has been tinting for over 20 years (top knotch work). I'm also a tinter out in Sycamore (about 40 or so miles west). Dave and I have worked together on larger flat glass jobs, but not so much on auto. If your willing to drive, I would be willing to do the work also.

Where is Express auto glass?

I went to NIU so going back to get some beer nuggets, pagglias pizza would not be out of the question . Sycamore and dekalb are basically the same city last time I was there.

I would prefer "East Side Tinting" and they are located at: 3940 E 105th St in Chicago, IL. I know they might be far from west suburbs but they are the best with 30 years+ of experience in tinting. They charge around $130 for MINIs for all windows.

Does anybody have all the windows tinted (excluding windshield)? Do you get pulled over for it?
I want to get the driver and passenger windows done but a lighter tint.

I've got all the windows on my BIG yellow truck tinted -- including the windsheild. The sides and the back are limo [2 1/2 percent]. The front is medium -- 30? percent. I had them done in Michigan during a road trip to rescue my brother from school. I'm in the Dupage area a lot, and now in the Naperville/Aurora area even more - current gf lives out there. I don't get harassed much unless I start driving like an idiot. I dont have the guts to tint the windows on the MINI, due to all the illegal parts / lights already on the car.... Let's not try to point out the obvious!

AS of 1/2009, state of IL is requiring anyone with a legal reason for tinted windows to apply for a IL license plate with the letters 'TW' at the end of the plate number. This is the state's way to crack down on tinted windows. Be Careful....

Window tinting

Legally you can have no window film on the front driver and passenger windows. Other states allow light film, but IL does not.

My wife has a mini and I tinted it 20% (SUV dark) in back and 30% in the front. So far no problems. I also tinted our minivan and we have never been pulled over for it. The more you make the car look like a racer or kid's car, the more likely you are to get pulled over for it.

The windshield is a federal law, and is laminated glass (could break while heat shrinking) most tinters will not tint the windshield. You can have a sun strip at the top of the windshield, but that is it.

nah its just more feel good crap like gun control laws. they can stop you for illegal tints now but with a new law it becomes a "crackdown". It's illegal to shoot someone but lets make it illegal to have a gun because people shoot people.
