Chips in the windshield

I seem to be having really bad luck when it comes to driving Zoe on road trips lately. My wife and I drove you Peoria for a wedding earlier this summer and got a chip in the windshield. Now this past weekend we drove all the way to St Louis for another wedding where we got another chip in the windshield and I proceeded to scrape my rim real good on a curb (man was that a dumb move)

Anybody else having problems like this??

Anyone have any experience with Bill Jacobs fixing the chips?

Advice? Thoughts?

Get used to it...
the glass seems soft, and it's a pretty steep windscreen, so you'll get lots of chips and pitting is a pain in the butt! I have almost 100k on my car, and I'm about to get a fourth windshield.

I'm not from your area, so I have no clue about the place you mentioned.

Good luck,

Matt

Just get some salsa to go with those chips and you'll be good.

Just call a windshield replacement company. They come to you and do a really nice job usually.

the 1st time was like wahtever. sith happens.
the crack lengthened across the windsheild so we had to change it.
right? okay so we change the windsheild. BRAND new.
a week later, im driving on the freeway and BAM a rock hits my winsheild and there it is, another huge crack (that's the 2nd) on a week old windsheild.

3rd time, it happened 2 weeks after i got my used MC back in august.
UGH . similar scenario. only we didnt changet eh windsheild. im planning on fixing the crack myself with that windsheild glue stuff. (there's a thred about it somewhere here on NAM)

Be careful with windshield replacements - apparently the covers over the pillars are held on with clips which tend to break when removed. A lot of aftermarket glass places tend to reuse the broken pillars and secure them with double-sided tape. After a while, the pillar covers will fly off when you're traveling at high-speed.

Maybe if you ask them to be very careful with the covers they can remove them without damage - I don't know. Good luck. My R53 windshield is pretty pitted. I actually look forward to getting a crack so that I have a good excuse to swap it out.

My car is only 2 years old. Already, the windshield is pitted and chipped more than my previously owned vehicle which I had for 11 years. Guess that's just the way it is!

All of my cars have stone chips in their windshields. I've only replaced the windshield on the MINI. Is it not only MINI but all BMW's that have soft glass? My second windshield on the MINI now has a crack and will be replaced shortly. My next windshield for the MINI will be aftermarket and not oe.

I got a new windshield within the last 12 months. Already chipped and pitted in a few spots. As others mentioned, the upright design doesn't allow the debris to glance off much... :(

$120 later... I have one chip that you can hardly see (the newer one) and one that still doesn't look too hot but is as strong as originally (aka won't crack further)
