New Owner of a 2005 Mini
New Owner of a 2005 Mini
Hi all,
I've had mine for a week now and although it handles suprisingly well in this weather, I'm looking forward to spring and opening the sunroof.
I'm in the NW burbs and having a great time with my Mini so far. Do Mini drivers wave to each other or anything?

Welcome Hayden, check out www.chicagominiclub.com for local events and info. Look forward to meeting you soon.
I flash my lights first .... then wave. 2005 is a great year for MINIs. Now save up for a 19mm H&R rear sway bar. It is my favorite mod!!!!

I would like to encourage female Mini drivers to flash ( . Y . ) , but sadly, I don't believe they would participate.
Thus I've settled for a friendly exchange of waves. Also helps ensure I won't drive off the road while gawking.
Oh, and welcome!

I too am a new '05 S owner (>1 week). I have owned over 60 vehicles in 32 years (a lot of hobby and special interest cars), and I think this one may be the biggest hoot of them all, I will find out next week when I take it on track for the first time.......
But don't open it right after it's rained until you've driven a bit, unless you want a pool of water dumped on you.
I wave when I make eye contact--if I don't see the other driver looking my way I don't bother. Sadly in Chicago-proper very little if any waves are exchanged; some of that is because we're too busy dodging potholes but for most people it's not their thing.
Welcome. You're going to love your MC. And if you're anything like a lot of us, you'll also end up addicted to this site.
I wave, but here in the western burbs my waves go unrequited. I think I'm about 2 for 50 or something. Doesn't mean I will stop trying, though.
bonmot

^ Like she said (I'm her Hubby) I just bought my 05 on the 2nd.
This Sunday afternoon as a matter of fact we will be having a couple folks from that other site over possibly. I'll be hopefully installing my outmotoring gauge faces, and probably joey modding my tail lights, wrapping my headlight rings and who knows what else. The garage isn't warm but you are welcome to come.
