Motor Greater Galena Sept 20/21

We have a great set of drives and events planned in beautiful Jo Daviess County and the historic city of Galena.

September 20 & 21 2008

Saturday or Sunday? Why not both? Staying overnight is of course optional. We have a great set of events planned for each day that can be experienced individually or as a package.

Saturday’s events start with a scenic and very twisty drive out to Chestnut Mountain Resort. There we’ll enjoy lunch overlooking the Mississippi River and conclude with some seat time sledding down the 2,050 ft. “terrain-tailored track to the banks of the Mississippi.

We have optional organized events after leaving Chestnut Mountain. If you still have some energy left there are more great roads to drive or explore historic downtown Galena. Those who are staying overnight may want to have dinner together and enjoy the evening in downtown Galena. There are several great places to eat in Galena!

We have something special planned for those staying till Sunday. This is the day of our grand tour on some spectacular roads in the Galena area.

If you are interested in staying overnight, please make your reservations NOW. Andy at The View Motel is holding 9 rooms for our group till July 31st, call him today to book your room with the Chicago MINI Driving Group. A visit to www.galena.org to book other rooms. Many of the B&B’s have two night min, but if you call the week of the event you may find one night deals.

This is a two-day event, but designed to allow anyone that can only make it one day still enjoy some great roads and a great times.

We will meet and depart from Winnebago (just west of Rockford) Saturday morning. Starting here will make it convenient for everyone from Chicago, Rockford and Wisconsin to join us.

Important times to note;

Sat 10am meet at McDonalds in rear parking lot west of Rockford. We will leave promptly at 10:30am.

FYI, there is no pit stop on the leg from Rockford to Chestnut Resort. Why you ask? Because we are driving back roads with no services, so get the small coffee.

considering it is the weekend of my b-day and how much fun I just had at the River City meet. I will definately be trying to come to this.

 

Be aware if you ask for a room they will tell you at that date that they have none. You have to tell them you're with the MINI group! 7 left as of yesterday

 

There's only 5 rooms left CALL Andy NOW to book them 815-858-2205 be sure tell Andy you are with the MINI group. He's got a waiting list for the rooms and they will be GONE on Aug 1st!

Please book them NOW! even if you are not 100% sure you are going, you can always sell it to someone or cancel it.

Haha I don't know about up front, but I will definately be trying my best to keep up with you.

 

booked my room. Andy is a real nice guy. He's only holding another 6 rooms and then they are all gone by the end of tomorrow so if you are going and want to stay here I would DEFINATELY be calling, the rooms are extremely reasonable compaired to some others in the area.

 

Going to miss it this year as I will probably have already left Chicagoland by then. I guess no speeding ticket for me!

Yea, too bad about your ticket We're going to keep a low profile, sorry AutoXR53. I think they might have our number in those parts.One crazy drive is enough for me for a couple of years!And I have my GP IC now. The "View" is just that, and they'll have a little fire pit lit that night as we watch the Harleys and whatever go by.

 

Now, Now, the only LEO's we ran into that weekend was the one Hefro blew past on the main highway well after the days runs/routes were done. Even Hefro knows it was a stupid way to get a ticket.

The routes will be changed in part and have never been published on line for Leo's to find. In 3 years of events with 100's of miles the ONLY tickets people got was AFTER an event when THEY were a solo hotdog.

 

yeah no tickets for me. I just got my license back 1 year and 3 months ago b/c if you are under 21 and get 2 tickets in 2 years you get owned. just sucks I turned 21 2 weeks after I got my 1 year suspension notice

 

It's now 2 tickets in any 12 months for under 21yrs and BAM IL pulls the lic, you can get a limited, to work & Doctor lic, but if you get busted driving on that outside of the rules, BAM it's off to jail, car impounded and 2 years no lic no matter what.
IL is really coming down hard. But I do like the new DWI laws starting later this year. 1st DUI, you get one of the "blow-here-to-start-the-car things.

 

hahaha When I worked at the local Honda dealer we had 2 customers w/those. I was the one that had to call the company to find out how to bypass it... I won't post it here though for those prying eyes. Yeah IL Is coming down on stuff pretty hard. A friend of mine just wrecked his Motorcycle about 3 weeks ago and they wrote him tickets for all sorts of crazy stuff

I will be on a trip back East, so Denise and a good friend of hers will be driving Buzz for the weekend.

I have a room booked at the View with a Queen bed, does anyone want to trade for twin beds?

I called the View and they are sold out, so it looks like the weekend will be a lot of fun, only wish I could be there!

The view already know my needs, so if you call to change they should know the drill.
