December Toys for Tots Event!!

UPDATED UPDATED UPDATED UPDATED...PLEASE READ
Updates are in red.
Arkansas MINI owners please join us for our December event! This will be a combination event where we are joining the Dixie Car club in their annual Parade of Classic Cars and Toys for Tots drive. This event is an attempt to beat the current record of the longest parade of classic cars driven over two miles. The current record is held by a car club in the Netherlands with 948 cars over 30 years old driven at least two miles.

The event is open to all types of cars (not just classics) as the other key goal of the event is to gather Toys for Tots donations. That’s where the MINIs come in. The entrance fee is one new, unwrapped toy that costs $10 or more.

We will be having a MINI contest to see who can get the most toys into a MINI. We’ll also have a contest to see who can correctly name how many toys are in the MINI.

To have all the AMOKs show up together, we will gather at the front parking lot at the RAVE theater. We will start gathering around 8 and depart no later than 8:30 to head to the Church. If we miss you at the RAVE, look for us at the Church. ;o)

We are meeting at the Holland Baptist Church (15523 Interstate 30 in Benton) at 9:00 Saturday, December 1. Take exit 116. East bound the church is on the service road just past the fairgrounds. West bound, cross over and go back west on the service road ½ mile. The caravan will assemble on the airport runway behind the church. Look for the AMOK banner and the other MINIs.

The caravan will depart at 10:00 sharp, and we will have a police escort (in front of us this time!) to lead us down to the Toys for Tots collection center at the Clear Channel Metroplex.

All cars regardless of age will be counted toward the Arkansas State Record. After the drive we’ll join the car display for a short time in the Clear Channel parking lot.

Bring your MINI and your holiday gift giving spirit to support Toys for Tots this year. Come even if you don’t have a toy to donate! Contact greg@motoringamok.com or carrie@motoringamok.com for more info.

Everyone start collecting new unwrapped toys worth $10.00 or more for the Toys for Tots caravan on December 8th. We would like the Minis to be there in full force.

Let people at your work place know you are participating in this, maybe they'll donate to you instead of dropping it off somewhere else. Maybe, they'll even let you have a drop box and allow customers, clients to drop off donations as well.

I'm going to tell those at my new job when I start. The only thing is I have to train at a different bank so I won't have much time at the branch I'll be working at.

Is there a list of lead free, drug free toys to choose from.

Maybe we could actually find some that are made in the USA?

Everyone reread the orginal post there have been changes.
Toys for Tots will be Saturday December 1st.
We are meeting between 8 -8:30am at the Rave movie Theater on Col Glenn Rd off I430 (take the Col Glenn Road exit turn right, turn left beside the dealership. You'll see the movie theater.) We are leaving the Rave at 8:30 to meet the Dixie Car Club and others at the Holland Baptist Church in Benton. Toy cost for this event is $10, do not wrap the toy.

After we go to Clear Channel Metroplex with the Dixie Car Club we'll head over to Toy Hill where Bob Robbins will be. Bring an extra toy for this. There is no price limit for this one. If you were able to get others to donate toys we'll take them to Toy Hill.

From Toy Hill there will be a few hours to do what you would like until our Christmas party. Our Christmas party will be at 3 pm at the park near War Memorial. Bring your Dirty Santa gift. We'll have a fire going, roast marshmallows, play Dirty Santa, and give away door prizes! Once it's dark we'll take a Christmas lights motor.

See you there!

QUICK UPDATE!!!

Just got notice from the parade organizer that the parade will not end at Clear Channel but will now go directly to Toy Hill at War Memorial.

Christmas Party details remain the same, but our end point for the drive is now War Memorial. See you Saturday!! Thanks for participating!

I should have more club magnets by Saturday morning. They are $15.00 for two if anyone wants to buy a set. They are nice looking, black with the AMOK logo in the middle.

I think my UPS skills may come in handy here playing tetris in a MINI.

Thanks for mentioning these magnets. I'll put mine on my front door so maybe I won't forget.

I'd like to have some club magnet, but I've read that magnets can mess up metallic paint. Has anyone experience that?

Remember to bring your unwrapped toy with value of $10 or more to the event. We'll be looking for lots of MINIs at the Rave Theater parking lot between 8-8:30 tomorrow morning (need lots of coffee!). We will make a great impression if we can arrive as a group, but if you can't make it that early we will see you at the church parking lot!

hmmm, i guess i'll be cleaning the car in the dark. Can't join a parade with dirty windows!
I'll do my best to be at Rave by 8:30; have my toys in the back seat already.
Really looking forward to meeting all of you and seeing the cars!

Tess, if you live magnets on your car the sun will fade the rest of your paint, as normal, but not where the magnet is. (this is what I don't get, don't people care about what their car looks like when they go to sell it and take those magnets off. )

So what we do is put them on only during the time we need them, during events, then take them off when we get home. This is a really awesome product for your price. They're good size and look great; plus you get two - one for each side! I had to get up and place mine on my front door so I'll see them when I go out in the morning (i have a steel door).

Thanks everybody for your participation this weekend in the Toys for Tots Event! While we went a bit slower than we are all used to on the freeway, it was a kick to see all the police cars blocking the on-ramps so the procession could pass. Thanks for brinigng the toys and for making this a memorable event!!

Maybe next year we can see them break the records!
