The Mini Motoring Club of Utah is leaving Salt Lake City sometime thursday the 23 in the mid morning!!

We met at Denny's just off of Olive ave. and hwy. 99.
REMA, NorCal, and Gold Country members met there. Zied from REMA set it up though.

 

Please advise if that is the plan this year.We will leave from Lincoln which is northeast of Sacramento to drive to AMVIV.Probably would RON in Fresno for the 0900 departure.Q

There has been some discussion (weather permitting) that some of us may hook up with Glenn and Sierra Nevada MINI's on Wednesday ( I think ) and go down SR395 through Death Valley stopping 1/2 way then on to Las Vegas on Thursday. But if that falls through, I'll be in Fresno Wednesday night ready to launch out of there Thursday morning. I don't plan on returning until Monday morning, too much seat time with the run on Sunday and the 500mi home all in the same day.

I'm thinking about staying until Monday also. If nothing else the traffic will be lighter.
I'm also trying to set up a pre-party for Wed. night at a local hotel, for anyone that is coming this way. Will keep you posted on details.

My husband and I are considering going this year. I think we would leave Tulsa on Wednesday and stay overnight in Albuquerque. What are the New Mexico MINIs planning? We'd love to meet up.

Opinion time!

According to my map program, the quickest, not shortest, way for us to go is I-90 to I-84 to I-15 which takes us through Salt Lake City with an overnight somewhere near SLC.

I can save about 100 miles by dropping down hwy 93 near Twin Falls, ID and staying overnight in Wells, NV. How is this route? The computer says that it is 100 miles shorter but will take an hour longer.

One of the guys I work with does regular trips to Boise from Vegas. He always takes the route through Wells and claims that it actually saves about an hour versus the SLC route. In Ely, take the "shortcut" on route 18 (he thinks it's 18, but it is marked) to avoid a side trip through the mountains.

I suppose it is about time for the 5280 thread on the subject.

My plans are to leave on Thursday afternoon about 4 pm, heading west as before to Grand Junction (actually, Fruita - less cost) and in time for a nice sitdown dinner and an early pillow.

Friday AM 6:00 departure to LV with arrival at 1 pm or in time for the early afternoon ride.

I will go ahead and start a thread on this and pls post there, then signup in the calendar.

FYI, Berk will be going this year as long as his mother allows him to play hooky (sp) that Friday.....it is the day before our Spring Break and all they do at school is play. I think that will work.

I will be doing the Phil Wicks track day, and then maybe staying over Sunday if Darcy decides to fly out and join us for a few days. Then, we can make a trip home via Grand Canyon and make a vacation out of it.
