Casino Night

Skip Casino Night unless you can get a bigger room and more tables.

[sarcasm]Very constructive[/sarcasm].

In case you haven't read the threads the organizers of that event are already working on a bigger location with more tables. Lest ye forget this was the first year for that event and they took a gamble putting it on and bearing all the costs.

If 200 MINIs show up I'd be screwed! :impatient Would it be possible to have a "MINIature group run" category in the event planner, where first 25 cars fills it up? Maybe that would keep people from being intimidated about running a giant event?
Last year I organized a drive for 90 cars from Dallas, TX. I've never been to the Dragon before. It's definately possible to do it, though... you just have to be a bit creative.

There are ways to limit the size of the event (we launched 3 drives of 30 cars each with mostly pre-registered cars to keep a control on the size but we let 5 last-minute signups in on each group too). https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=64311

PM 'Snooter' here on NAM for ways to help with drives next year... things are already in the works and an extra hand for planning, leading, driving or directing traffic would always be appreciated.

You can limit the drive any way you want. I will probably do a small drive next year. If I do, it will be limited to no more than 20 cars. If more people want to do it, I'll offer my 'script' to anyone wanting to organize it at another time.

I vote to get rid of the vendor scavenger hunt. It was annoying waiting to get in with the vendors while 30 people were trying to get their cards stamped.

The scavenger hunt was clearly meant to get more people to visit more vendors. It started out working way too well on me, as I found myself buying, or placing orders, at three of the first four places I visited. The fourth was Lucky Dog, and they get thousands of my dollars even without giving me a free stamp.

I wonder how vendors would feel about doing it again. On one hand they get more traffic, which translates to more business, while on the other hand, the lines of folks wanting nothing but stamps was clearly annoying to many vendors and even more scavenger hunters.

The one problem I had with the Vendor Scavenger Hunt was waiting for someone to crawl out from under a car to stamp a card. That was a little unsettling for me.

Last year was my first since I got my MINI in Jan. 2007 but the wife and I had a blast. Looking forward to the 2008 event and thanks to the volunteers that helped make it so much fun.

Hopefully Nicole and I will make the 800 mile trek this year, unsure which mini we will take. Any idea of places to stay?
