Question Tuning options for Cooper C

Hi Mini fam: I've wanted to purchase a Mini for years, but when I price out my Cooper with options, I get to the $40k+ mark, which is not impulse buy territory when this is a car I use in NYC to the tune of 3k-4k miles per year. Now Mini is reintroducing the Oxford Edition with the detuned B48 engine. While this car is lacking some things I want, certain things are an easy fix (cat-back exhaust, upgraded speakers, etc.). The engine was an easy upgrade on F55/56 models with all of the available tuning options, but I've heard the latest ECU is very hard to crack. Does anyone have experience with this or at least looked into it? I'm not finding much online.

It is the exact same engine as the Cooper S, but I believe ECUs are fully locked now only a company in Finland can crack it. But piggybacks are still an option and I am sure DINAN will have something out soon.

However, I recently found dealers are clearing out their loaners and some Cooper S with nice specs are going for as low as 33k.The Oxford edition Cooper is like 27k with the newly raised destination fee. For 5k extra, you’re getting quite a lot more, especially the cleared out loaners are mostly Pre July 24 productions, so standard equipments are quite high. Most includes HK audio and 360 cameras.

Some places are still working on it. Racechips just came out with a piggyback for the U25 JCW. So hopefully more soon.

Yep they are the same, just that tune among others for just the engine. We have it in the drop down as Cooper. Most places call that Cooper C = Cooper (USA Data) and the Cooper S = Cooper S of course. Lots of euro MINI places like to use the Cooper C (euro data), i think its because of the many variants which in the USA we dont have the electric and the diesel versions so we keep it simple.

Is that for sale? I had a Race Chip in my R55 (which was just totaled last week) and really want to get another for the F65 I just had delivered. If I can sell the GTS Black I have (provided it is a different product) and recoup on the new one, that would be ideal!

Oooh, thank you for those links! I will be closely watching to see if the S gets added at some point. Not that it is a slouch, it is definitely quicker than my R55 was but I'd happily take more!

I had a Sprint Booster on the R55, so I'm not familiar with the XLR5. Do you happen to know how it might compare (functionally and ease of installation)? Sorry to dig up an older thread and then take it over... I can open a thread if that is preferable.

Sounds good. I actually just went ahead and ordered it yesterday from you anyway. The Sprint Booster was good, and I'm down with the connectivity that I got with the GTS Black, so, win. Thanks!
