Before you are so quick to accuse me, since I said "Supposedly, too much of a hassle and photographer doesn't want to do it. No one standing up to do it."

Do you think I just made that up to spread a rumour?, A "falisitie (whatever that is?)?

At one of the first Dragon Organizing Committee meetings I asked that question ... what about the pic? .... Where you there? Somebody said exactly what I conveyed, photographer doesnt want to do it ...

I dont remember exactly who said it but it really doesn't matter because thats the presumption since then. I was conveying what I believed to be truth ... being helpful to the community ... turns out it might not be true at all now. Regardless ... statements like yours here go a long way to ensuring any information or helpfulness to the community gets squashed in the future.

Have a good day

If he wants to take a pict at the Drive-in Friday evening with over 100 people registered to attend he's more than welcome. The ball field should be full!

Every time I see your posts in a thread you have such an attitude. No matter what is said or who says it you always have something negative or "all-knowing" to say. That's all I have to say to you.

Have a good day

You're still welcome to be in the picture.

Really, why all the defensiveness? The way I see it was that some one asked if there was going to be a panoramic picture this year. And then a few of you jump all over the question. Maybe what you wrote wasn't intended to come off that way, but that's how I read it.

Hey, I apologize for being naive and an "amateur" at the ins-and-outs of what it takes to do this sort of thing, but some of you don't have to be negative about it. This is going to be my first MOTD and I intend to have a lot of fun! Let it evolve. If it happens, great! If not, too bad.

Wagnbat, I'd like to help out here how ever I can!

Besides myself, the only people who have said anything are the last two Presidents of DCMM, the main organizing group for the Dragon. THEY have the experience. THEY know what they are talking about. I wouldn't interpret experience talking about the difficulty of logistics with negatism, its not the same thing.

The "fact" is nobody stood up and volunteered to put this together until Wagn. Good for him and I hope he does pull it off.

As to my comment, as I sad, it was what I was told. That's not being negative, thats just passing on info (albeit it seems the wrong info at the moment).

No harm done. I'm still happy to be attending and if volunteers are needed to help direct traffic or some thing else on site, I'd like to help out

I'm still "welcome" to be in the picture...gee, thanks. Like I need anyone's permission.
Perhaps the defensiveness is a response to the attitude that if enough people want something to happen at the Dragon, that it will simply occur.
Having been peripherally involved with the organizing both last year and this year, folks have zero idea what it takes to put on this event. Our club and others, have been working like dogs for the past 4 1/2 months to make sure everyone does have fun.
My statement wasn't defensive..it was a bugle call to get someone to step in, which Wagnbat did much to his credit. DCMM Dragon Organizing Committee has enough on it's plate to add yet something else to reasearch, organize, post, monitor, and make sure it comes off without a hitch so that none of the participants are disappointed, especially this close to the date.
So before you jump down our throats, step back and reflect on the work that it takes to organize an event for 600 people and 400 cars, and the frustration we might feel when "if we want it to happen, it will even if we do nothing to make it happen" er, happens.

Wait, you mean this stuff doesn't just magically happen? And here I was thinking that the magical Dragon Gnomes and Event Nymphs just managed to read everyone's mind, wave some brake dust over the area and poof... A big honkin' MINI event happens!

Whoda thunk!

Not to insult dogs - but that would be a promotion.

I second the group buy on gnome - can I sell space for a logo?

Will, count me in on helping for setting up for the pic if it gets off the ground. I can yell and scream at all the "mean" people for us. It is going to be a chore to get 400 minis in a pic I have a strong feeling. But it will be a great addition to my modern art!
Group buy for gnomes...But I already have a garden full...Can I bring my own????

if someone was going to make a panorama picture this year, i would be willing to run off a limited quantity of prints of it, at varying sizes, and a few quality levels (art reproduction and inkjet) for pretty cheap cost to whoever would want them.

can go up to 54" tall on an art reproduction. lemme know and we can work out some good deal.

News... Pricing is in the works... Should be cheaper than last year... There are some logistics issues, but progress is being made... Right now, there is an 80% chance this will go off without any major issues... Will post all the firm details when they're firm.

One more round of applause for the organizers! These folks are giving their free time before the event and their valuable DRAGON TIME during the event... These folks could be out MOTORING for goodness sake... Instead, they are manning check-in tables, running projectors, stringing wires for the band, buying chili ingredients...

I think that there is always a bit of frustration at these grass roots events. It's really easy to offend someone with a "Hey! Why aren't we doing Z this year?" comment when they have been working hard to provide A through Y. I asked that question a while back about the Saturday scenic drive and thought better of it a few days later... then decided to organize and run the drive to pitch in and make the event better (if we don't get lost) for everyone.

Lets cut everyone some slack and say a loud "THANK YOU" to the organizers!

PS: I'd be glad to help direct cars into the semicircle needed for the pic, etc... Just let me know what I can do.

Didn't mean you! The thread was getting close to a p*ssin contest there earlier. Which is dangerous unless you know alot about wind I'm a sailor and reading wind shifts is a art.

Yup, it is to be fun. And the work up to it should be fun. And we need more folks to come, I printed 750 of the Welcome Guide so keep racking up those attendees!

I love my Pan photo and if anything comes together I'll buy one. Will, you ROCK!
