No it did not affect the Dragon area, other end of the state.

Still terrible though!

We had some bad thunderstorms here from what relatives tell me. We were gone to Sebring and weren't around. All looks ok.

land (read rock) slides on the Dragon are not a good thing. The roads are so narrow that one good-sized slide can damage/destroy the whole width of the road, thereby closing it. These slides are prevelant after heavy rains, so pray for dry weather up to and including the Dragon.

yeah, and then the other problem is there are a lot of little rivers and streams that like to flood out the roads...

think it'll be too cold to do a rafting trip down the Nantahalla?..

Yes, and it is a royal pain in the *** if you are on the wrong side of a slide and want to head back to Fontana.

We had some pretty serious hail. Some cars were damaged. (not mine) We are very lucky here in East TN. We have the occasional flood in valleys near the mountains, but even that is quite rare. When we do have a flood they can be very violent. Not the type where water just rises slowly, but fast moving walls of water seeking the fastest most direct route down hill. (flashfloods) God help you if you happen to be in the way. Land slides, of any distructive size, are also rare. They usually happen along highways where the vegation has been stripped away and nothing is holding the land in place, like along I-40 between Newport, TN and Ashville, NC.

Royal pain in the *** for a daily commute, but for this, it'd just make for some interesting motoring..
