Last Mod before the Dragon?

Hey, looking for some advice on what I should do as my last mod before the Dragon.

Right now I have on my '02 S -

Modified Magnaflow Exhaust, Alta 19% SC and 0% Crank, M7 AGS w/ HS, R-Speed RSB, Tein H-Tech springs, Ebay Rear Strut Tower Bar, and 7-Holeys w/ the Conti all seasons.

I'm thinking it will be either new tires - Dunlop Direzza DZ101 in 205/50/15 - or an OBX Header with Magnaflow Cat. I am also thinking about a special exhaust mod, but it may not happen in time.

Which one would you pick? Header of Tires?

They are both essentially the same price.

Brakes! I'm doing that before any of the speed mods... I figure that I'd better be able to stop BEFORE being able to go fast.

Brakes or lights, depending on whether or not you're planning to do the midnight run.

Oh definitely think about brakes and rally lights! You'll be braking hard and often! And running the Dragon at midnight is a blast with the aux. lights!

definitley B R A K E S...... I have a BBK and last year at the Dragon I noticed how much faster i was because i could brake later with NO fade..... what was funny is that the effects of fade from the cars in front got progressively worse as we drove.... mine never faded at all...... this is not a small increment this is a HUGE difference....... B R A K E S ( just my not so humble opinion)

Right. Remember, you're going to the Dragon, not Road Atlanta...

Definitely, you'll need good brakes for all the curves you are going to encounter, not just during the Dragon, but also on the way to Fontana and actially throughout all the surrounding twisties in the area. That said, lots of caution is needed as well, and NEVER cross the yellow line [unless you like entertaining a deathwish].

Brakes seem to be the overwhelming choice. Perhaps I will have to look into some fronts. Is the consensus that it should be pads only, or maybe rotors with the pads I already have? I'm trying to keep everything under $300 if possible...

Because I'm trying to keep everything fairly stock (mechanical wise), I'm gonna go with the EBC Greenstuff (or maybe Yellowstuff) pads and a change of brake fluid.

Front EBC Pads $80-90
Rear EBC Pads $70-80
Fluid $15-30

The EBC's are pretty well respected for their performance, though most of the track-junkies on NAM will go w/ Hawks or other pads. The EBC Greens have a coefficient of friction at .55 (better than most other fast street pads that are at .50) and the Yellows are supposed to be streetable with a coefficient at .60 (even grippier).

Eventually I'll go w/ Stainless brake lines and maybe the Tyrol caliper stiffeners, but again, I'm trying to keep my stock warranty as clean as possible for now.

This leaves you with $100 for beer money or other mods... maybe a CG Lock to keep the nut behind the wheel in place and an Alta foam panel intake (again, to keep it moderately stock).

Brakes by far would be my vote. Last year, my Stoptech didn't show up in time for MOTD05. Asides from powerup additions, a huge opportunity for reeling in the prey is in the braking zone. This year...things will be different

Actually... I forgot about the rear sway. I'm having the HSport Comp bar installed at the Dragon by Way Motorsports. The Future Queen (her royal pinkness) has an association w/ one of the other, excellent, mod-shops (Detroit Tuned, I think) who can also help you out with that. I've heard great things about them!

Lights are good, I'm running 2 100W lights on a custom bracket a wired up. Got everything from a local 4 wheeler store. Total bill came out to around $120, they worked great on the Dragon last year. A brake up grade would be tricky if you are running 15" wheels. I am changing my brake fluid out with some Super Blue right before the Dragon this year, those Dulops are good tires as well, I've had them for 6 months. Best 15" tires for the money I think.

Got another Schroth harness yesterday from Detroit Tuned, as well as, a M7 oil catch can and a euro shelf. Other than an upgrade in bulbs, we should be all set

I think I'll have to do the rotors then, they sould be same size as stock, to fit under the 15's, right?

Like I should be thinking about modding when I need to get my dent fixed... OH well. I will be there with the DentaMINI, but at least it will have new brakes!

Not at all.
You simply need one of the 11.75 kits that fit 15" wheels. That's why they exist.

You can do the 'touchy-feely' thing to them when we get there. I'll have one with me for sure.
