Anyone from NJ going?

Is anyone from the nj area heading to the MOTD? There might be a good chance that I will go and it would be great to meet up with any of you and head on down.

Sweet as I am only about 30 or so minutes from the philly area. I will have to look into things and see how much camping outside is and all! Herbie_53_guy, do you have any info where you guys are meeting up and did you guys get rooms or camping as well? This is my first time, so much info is appreciated. Specially since I am going by myself.

I believe some of the NY/NJ guys from NEMINI are heading down. I'm not going but you can check out their thread to get details.

Hi, I'm from Jersey!

There's a good chance I'll start my trip to the Dragon from DC... I have no idea what the best way is from Jersey to the Dragon, but maybe you can pass the DC Metro area? I think there's a group caravan starting from here... I think. But if I start from NJ I will definitely let you know...

A caravan will definitely need planning out

Since DCMM is hosting the event, it would be safe to assume a large caravan will be heading down although some ppl are going down early to set up ...

Here is the thread where I was asking for the best route https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=60754
Note the one post about how to avoid the construction.

I would wait a month or so because its too early now and ask in the DCMM forum for any caravans. I think some may be heading out earlier in the week but I would bet a lot of ppl will still be heading out Tues or Weds

the best way from NJ is to take 78 or 80 to 81,
then 81 to 40,
then 40 to 129 (right outside Knoxsville)
then 129 to 28 to Fontana (doing the Dragon on the way )

Another way from Jersey/Philly/NY is the PA Turnpike to Carlisle and then 81 South to 40, then 40 to 129.

But if you guys pick up the MINI convoy from Baltimore/Washington those guys most likely will hit 81 coming from 66 (Front Royal).

I know as I drive either route many times to visit friends in Philly.

How is the 5-0 presence on the way down there? I mapquested it and it says 16hrs, but that's at 60mph, I was hoping to 13-14. We will be driving at night too

You do NOT want a speeding ticket in VA or NC. 80MPH on a highway is Reckless Driving ... See this thread as a warning https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ginia+speeding
The aggravation alone isnt worth it.

Of course, this is just a generality but there are places with notorious speed traps. I think there are web sites that point them out. Just drive to arrive alive and be safe ... you really dont want to appear before a magistrate.
