My wife wants to downsize from her 2010 Honda Odyssey Touring that is approaching 260K miles now and I am trying to persuade her that a Mini Countryman would be the perfect companion to my 04 Cooper S JCW Hatch. Research tells me that a 2019 Countryman Cooper S ALL4 is considered a "sweet spot" for used countrymen in i4 engine, 8 speed auto transmission, and reliability. KBB says the value of a 2019 should be around 15 grand from a dealer or 14 grand from a private party, so I am anticipating spending $15,000 or so depending on miles and maintenance history. I don't want to step on any Mini toes here but I would appreciate any advice on years to consider and what to look for in a used Countryman. We live out in the sticks here in Northwest Arkansas so the ALL4 would be the desired option (for me if not for her).
F60 year over year changes - Digital display is the big one
This might help.....
`For 2018, you want manufacture date March 2018 and later for 4g and other improvements. November 19th 2019 is last manual. 2020 (not sure month) Cooper non-awd gets 7speed dual clutch auto, and S gets 8 speed. Auto Stop start has to be disable each time you drive. 2021 is digital display, union jack tail lights. (I think this is where the infotainment gets a different look and feel. Might be 22). 2022 gets heads up nav and bigger 8.8" screen. Redesigned headlights too. Also body colored center lower front bumper.
I personally love the digital display and would go for it.
Thanks for all the information, guys. I may have to expand my search and my budget. One thing I do want is a good OEM GPS as I've come to depend on the ones in our Odysseys. I have a Magellan unit in the Mini, but the built in GPSs are handier.
OK, guys,
I ran across a 2015 S ALL4 an hour away and plan to take my wife there tomorrow to see how she feels about driving one.
it is here: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...esting_product
This may not be THE one, but at least she could get the feel. Thoughts?
A 2015 or 2016 R60 would be a decent car. Last of the N18 engine vehicles. As long as the car has been maintained well, should be solid. It will be slightly smaller than the 3rd gen F60 Countryman. Make sure the transmission shifts smoothly.
I had a 2015 R60 JCW All4 manual, in the same red. It was a great car for me and I had no issues with it, did all the maintenance myself. I would still have it if someone didn’t launch it into my front yard! Maybe a few smaller maintenance items on the N18 vs my current B48 on my F60 JCW, but nothing I couldn’t do in the driveway!
Did not get an appointment yet to see the 2015 S ALL4 for $5,700 but found a 2018 SE ALL4 at a local dealer with 74,912 miles for $13,795, VIN WMZYU7C45J3E56349.
Should I consider an SE?
It is at https://www.performanceofnwa.com/vdp...12?mode=photos . I see the listing says 4 cylinder but I thought the SE was an i3 plus electric motor. Does the advice that it should be built March of 2018 or later apply to an SE?
EDIT: I did some research and a 12 mile EV range hardly seems worth the extra weight and complexity. We live 6 miles from the nearest small town (Garfield) so any trip would use up that 12 miles and require a 220 volt 2 to 3 hour recharge. Thought about having her drive this one, but since blue is her favorite color I am concerned she might like it too much.

. I decided against the SE and I had planned to go see the 2015 today, but it was sold over the week end. She said she could live with Red and $5,700 seemed a pretty good price for a 2015 with 77K miles. Drat!
Too bad on the 2015….sounded like a good deal. Unfortunately on used don’t always get a colour choice…but nothing wrong with chilli red!…although I may be a bit biased! I think they look good in red, silver, blue and white…in that order…oh, you weren’t asking!? I wish you the best of luck with your quest!

Yes, I personally liked the Chilli Red, the black stripes, and the front lights too, but then Ohio State lost to Indiana, the Chiefs lost to the Texans, and I was a day late on the 2015 so maybe the universe is trying to tell me something about red.
I ran across a 2019 4 hours from me that has a rebuilt title due to a front end collision and is priced at about the KBB dealer value.
Should I stay away from a rebuilt title or consider taking a chanced since it is the color my wife wants and appears to have all the goodies I want?
I tried to check the build date in the link from above, but I did not find it. Maybe I have to be a member of that site? Here's the info on it.
2019 Mini Countryman S ALL4 near KC, 24,700 miles $15,575
Price is low, but then again, its value will always be lower than a non-rebuilt title. It does look like the impact was high up, such as running under the bumper of a lifted truck, which is a positive thing I guess regarding frame damage and potential miss-alignment issues.
If the plan is to keep the car for only a few years I wouldn’t recommend in my opinion as it may be a tough resale. Once rebuilt title…always rebuilt title. If you plan to keep it for its entire life then it may be an ok option, as certainly the mileage and price are both low…it is good value for sure. Have you confirmed any insurance issues?
My thoughts…

Thanks for the reply from a guy who is "North of 80". Do you mean insurance issues because of the rebuilt title? I hadn't thought about that but I can check. I posted a new thread questioning whether with that much damage the air bags might not have deployed. It must have hit a pickup with a high bumper or got backed into by one. I did ask the dealer if it came with the owner's manuals and any service records - Not heard back yet- and KBB Private Party Value for that mileage is $16K to almost $19K but that's for good condition and not for a rebuilt title. I guess my next call is to The Hartford to ask about insurance. And, Yes I'd plan to keep it for as long as we can still drive If my wife liked it. She already has some reservations about the black wheels, but I have a set of shiny Konig wheels that came on my 04 JCW that I could put on for her. Is there room in the boot for a spare?

Reason: add information
Personally, I like the wheels, they are reminiscent of Minilites. Minilite Wheels UK | custom wheels 04 wheels are 4 lug and are not gonna fit as the 19 Countryman is 5 lug.
I have a 23 Countryman MCS All wheel with those wheels and same color blue but with silver roof. Damage that extensive would be a No No for me

I rather like them too, but she likes shiny; might be her Choctaw heritage. Thanks for the heads up on the 5 lug wheels.
So black wheels would be it if we decide to take a chance. Too bad it is a 4 1/2 hour drive or I'd have checked it out already.

Ha ha…”North of 60“ refers to my location in northern Canada…about the same latitude as Anchorage…but further east. I agree that possibly the impact was not high speed, and maybe the suspension took some of the impact? Four+ hours is a long journey sure enough…I bought my 2018 sight unseen other than photos and video…and it was a 17 hour drive one way to get it! Nothing available closer than that. I was not disappointed and am very happy with our F60 JCW. Although, I had no concerns about rebuild title.
I like the wheels also, always liked the Minilites rally look from the original Austin Mini. Am currently looking for silver summer rims and a few common alternatives are Audi, BMW, Mercedes, and others in 5 x 112 bolt pattern. These are much more readily available than Mini rims it seems, just be careful to match centre bore and appropriate offset.
Decisions…decisions….I wish you well.

My thinking as well, but I've not found anything with that classic eight banana-spoke wheel for my 2019 F60 All4. Enkei does make a version for the R58 Coupe, which I sprung for with my Mini:
Recommend skipping '11-'16. We had $10,000 in repairs the first 100k miles, but that counted a timing chain. Have PPI check top motor mount, oil filter housing gasket, and thermostat/waterpump assembly. And service history. 10k oil changes scare me. Good luck!
