sunroof stuck open fixed with keyfob out of range
I have a 2019 Countryman F60. I have an after-market flexible sunscreen under the sunroof when it's too sunny out. I forgot to take it out and tried to open the sunroof. bad idea! The sunroof got stuck and would not open or close.
To fix it,
- checked the fuse, no problem (didn't help)
- tried holding the sunroof button for at least 15s to try and reset (didn't work)
- took the keyfobs out of range for half an hour and I was able work the sunroof after this
I made sure that the key fobs were out of range, which is pretty far away - 200 feet or so and just waited for about 45 minutes. I read this solution on a mini site.
Why does this work? And why would it take this long to reset the sunroof. This was really odd.

I saw several threads talking about the 30 minute out of range keyfob "fix", which worked for me, but it just seems strange.
