F60 Bootmod3 Flash Activated 😎
Hey All,
I figured I'd post this since I don't anyone else talking about this. BM3 added support for F56/55/57/60 etc (basically B48 minis) a few months ago. I'd been using the NM power module on my 2019 JCW F60 for a year and was looking for something that would provide a more linear and consistent power band rather than amplify the punch existing tune which is a little breathless at the top end.
So, I took the dive and after working with protuning freaks support successfully flashed an OTS 91 octane stage 1 tune to the car.
I'm happy to answer specifics if you have them but the biggest things I notice:
- The power band is way less punchy at low RPMs.
- Also, the power band pulls HARD all the way to red line. This is exactly what I was looking for!
- It feels decidedly faster than the NM Power module (I had it on low).
- The car, in general, just feels like it's opened up a lot more. The power is consistent. The throttle response is consistent. It's just... better in every way!
It's been two days since I flashed it and a few weeks leading up to it where I was debating if I wanted to nuke my warranty. But so far, I feel very validated with the decision.
Ask away if you have questions!

How do you know if you have a high compression B48 or low compression?
The JCW models are low compression. The non-JCW F-Series are high compression. Bootmod will automatically detect it.
Also, how can you check if your car has the November 2019+ software update?
Send support an email with a picture of your current software versions as read by bootmod (you can do this without paying for a license). You will need an ENET cable for this.
Did you get the ENET cable to change maps via smartphone?
I bought an ENET cable to connect to my laptop.

In my case, the original flash failed but their support team got back to me in a day with the working steps to fix it
My BM3 Experience
I installed BM3 on my 2017 F60 S ALL4 a few weeks ago (transmission is an 8 speed automatic). BM3 added a lot of power but I had issues with the OTS 91 ACN tune. Every couple days the car would throw a drivetrain error for implausible torque value. Pro Tuning Freaks was responsive and had me take logs and made a few adjustment maps to test (I tried 3 test maps based on log feedback). It felt pretty good and I did not see errors after the adjustments but I have decided to go back to stock for the time being.
I went back to stock for a couple reasons:
* I do want to mention that it's possible that there's just something with my car that's causing problems, however, it's been running great stock. I think it's good practice for anyone running a tune to take logs just to make sure everything looks good.
Edit: I had originally posted the highest over-boost was 25.4 psi. I double checked the logs and found one at 24.9 psi. Either it went that high more than once or I mis-remembered the exact number (I took a lot of logs).
I went back to stock for a couple reasons:
- I took logs on a few days ago, when it was a bit hotter out, and the timing did not look great. This was despite running 93 octane "Top Tier" fuel on a 91 octane tune (with new plugs and coils)
- The biggest factor for flashing back to stock was that I have seen a number of over-boosts of around 20.5 psi when the target is 17.4; and one really big over-boost of 24.9 psi at 17.4 psi target.

If there is no back-and-forth logging and reflashing, then you effectively have a "bench" tune. Even though you are not mailing your ECU, its still a bench tune. Best performance will come from an actual tune with data logging during the process.
No doubt - a custom tune is always best!
I did a couple "mexican" highway pulls to check timing and boost in third gear and everything looks good. Timing is bang-on across all cylinders and boost is fantastic. The max boost I saw was 21psi. Feels great!

Do you mind posting a couple of your logs? I'm curious how they look.
These look way better than mine. Might have something to do with temperature as my intake air temps were much higher. I also have an S so it's running at higher compression.
Hello everyone,i came frome China,i have F60 S tooooo! And i was flashed BM3 91ost stage1 ,this is my log, there is something wrong in lgnition time 1,this is my LOG ,https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=6184...6283fe0a324,do you have same trouble?

This is my last one off the line from 1st gear into 4th. I have a bunch of others that I could upload some more later. Some look better and some look worse. This was a test map based off the OTS because the original OTS kept throwing a drivetrain error every couple days.

I had messaged bootmod3 support regarding the drivetrain codes and they made some changes for a test file for me. I still had some timing issues and overboost after 3 different test files though.
Really appreciate your post and replies here. I'm new to the idea of tuning and want to learn some basics so I can upgrade my 2017 F60 All4 Base.
I've checked out some "reputable" videos on youtube to get started for dummies. LOL
Question: Every time I look up tuning kits I don't quite see verbiage to feel good about the fact that I am purchasing the right product; so:
1. Do I have to buy a kit labeled: "2017 F60 All4 Base" or can i buy any mini F60 tuning kit? I am not an "S" but I want a little more power.
2. Also, I have a manual 6spd 1.5L 3cyl. Is this an issue with tuning? Will I have to adjust my shifting?
3. Besides the tuning kit, cold air intake, and exhaust upgrade, and maybe high-heat spark plugs, is there anything else recommended?
**My goal is actually just to get enough performance that is easily maintained. I will be living on the road full time and plan to travel a lot with my mini!
Thanks in Advance.
