I have a 2018 Countryman JCW All 4. When I picked up the car the control display had a split screen with music on the left and an active compass on the right. Below the compass the street name I was driving appeared. In trying to locate something else I lost the compass and can't seem to get it back. Has anyone experienced this issue?Can anyone explain to me how to get back to this setting?
Appreciate any assistance.

 

Assuming split screen is still on, either tilt the control **** to the right to pull up your split screen, or tap on the right side of the screen to change the split screen options.

 

I am going to try your suggestion a bit later today and will let you know if it worked. We tried everything but probably not what you have suggested.

Tap the right side and swipe up (or rotate ****, press-in). There will be various optional screens. I think that's how you select amongst them, but not in car at the moment.

 

I am on the screen where it shows split screen is checked but there is no option from there to do anything on the right side of the screen. Very frustrating. I will go back to the car in a while and try again. Clearly I am missing something.

 

I gave it a try but I do not seem to have an option to do anything on the right side of the screen. I will try again later.

So much to learn on this car. It is amazing.

 

There are 2 different kinds of "control panels for audio" that are under the 6.5/8.8" display.Both of them have the same amount of buttons but one of them has a button for "BAND" while in the other has a pic with a wireless transmitter on it indicating "TRAFFIC MAPS UPDATE".Has anyone seen these 2 parts & compared to check what one could offer vs the other in terms of functionality?.Thanks.

 

The best solution that I've found is to use Bimmercode. Go to Headunit and then use Expert Mode. Scroll down to "3005 Display PIP Info" and select it. Next, find DIM_VARIANT in the list of options. Change the default "NEW" to "OLD". After completing, CODE the ECU, you'll see that you can control the brightness of the display independently. It will still get darker in the shade so turn the brightness of the display all of the way up. This way, during the day, the difference between dim and bright is not that noticeable. Unfortunately, when it gets dark out and I turn the headlights on, the control display is entirely too bright but you can change the display to make it darker.

I also use the clock screensaver which helps hide the display getting dark/bright.
