Timing chain gears

Should we be replacing the cam gears when replacing the timing chain? Wanted to see if there is a consensus considering the kit without the gears is much cheaper

Edit: I'm in a 2013 sAll4 with 69K.

I've done it both ways but never the intake vanos. Key item is the actual tensioner. make sure it is 82mm vs 78mm.

The lower sprocket yes, the cam gear/vanos no. The lower sprocket apparently takes majority of wear and you may see this when it is in your hand :-)
