So... I tried to find this info elsewhere but to no avail.. What purpose does this cubby serve? Nothing fits in it. Its the most impractical storage space I've ever seen. Its only about two inches deep and half an inch tall (the 'slot' under the buttons, not the tray behind the cups). Makes zero sense to me. Anyone?

Apparently in earlier years there used to be buttons down there, which they moved to other locations at some point. The cubby is a filler panel for the empty space that remained. I think the old arrangement was better and it was done for cost cutting reasons.

 

Pre Lci has sport button, window lock and fog light buttons there.

 

I'd rather have the buttons than the worthless space. I sometimes put my charging cable in there to keep it from hanging on the floor when not in use. But that's about all I've found that cubby useful for.

 

Yep not much room in there. I had a loner once and people had change and paper clips in there from the last person.
